Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 86: Noobs, Halloween, and Pumpkins, oh my!

Is this with the same company, just different location?

Yes. I've been working as a business analyst at the corporate offices for the last seven plus years. I had worked at one of the box plants for the previous twenty two plus years. When my, and three other analyst jobs, were eliminated last week, they told me I could apply at the paper mill for an open analyst position there, then they handed me my severance package. I misunderstood, and thought I would have to start from square one at the paper mill. I figured if that was the case, I'd look and see what was out there. I met with two of my colleagues for lunch and told them that if I was starting over, I'd probably look at something closer to home. Last Friday my phone was ringing off the hook. My ex manager, the VP of HR and the office manager at the mill all called me to say if I took the job at the mill, and they thought I'd be a good fit, everything would be bridged and transferred to that position. Benefits, five weeks of PTO, 401K and 30 years would remain intact. I also just found out when they called me today that I was the only analyst who was being offered the mill job. None of the others were told or offered anything else.
It sounds like a slam dunk, but I'm not getting ahead of the interview process at this point. I'd really like to stay on with the company, but they did offer me a generous severance package that I have three weeks to accept. I'll go to the interview tomorrow with everything I'd have for an interview with anyone else, and see how it goes. It's a 35 mile drive, one way, but it's completely opposite all the traffic coming into the cities. If this works out, I may have to get something more economical to commute with.

ETA -I would still keep my Silverado, of course. :)

Just got a call that the staff at the paper mill want to interview me tomorrow at 11:00 AM. The big guy even left me a VM on my cell while I was hunting. I sure hope this plays out for a job. I think I'd actually enjoy working there more than at HQ.

/still crossing fingers :o

Good luck!!

I refuse to go into that thread now as I am not a fan of threads with embedded music. Especially while at work.

Went for a beverage or two after work. Hottie bartender was not there. :( He better be there next Thursday, since it's a special day.

It's a final:

Denver: 2

Ohio State: 0

Marc Cheverie gets his fifth career shutout and Rhett Rakhshani and Drew Shore score for the Pioneers.
