Minus the hammerpunch IRL, keep it short and sweet like that. When nmu_27 proposed, it was a simple pull the box out of his pocket, get down on one knee, "Will you marry me?" I'm assuming that the two of you have at least talked of the prospect of marriage, so while still completely being a surprise it won't be totally out of left field. You don't need a speech planned. Tell her how you feel, genuinely. "I love you, I want spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" And for the love of god, don't put the ring anywhere where she might ingest it. Keep it in the box. I don't want to hear a story about how she ate the cake/drank the champagne and swallowed the damm thing :p

I could see that, then both of them drinking some Schlitz and talking about how great Wisconsin is. :)

Might not be a bad idea to have a few ideas of how you want to do it. Practice a few different plays, and then call an audible when its game time.
