Good evening lodge.

Back in the cities. I ended up golfing yesterday, it wasn't as cold as I expected, but it wasn't warm either. Then I was supposed to play farmer today and help my dad out, but despite a strong wind the beans never dried all day. It isn't looking good at this point with the days getting shorter and only colder weather to come.

On the bright side, the Vikes are still undefeated.:D

I wasn't sure if you'd seen that one or not.

Fajitas turned out really well on the new electric skillet. The next experiment will be pork chops and spanish rice.

Just checking in. Was at UNH-Miami games this weekend. Watched Giants get destroyed by Brees, watch Pats history after that.

Oh, and in case anyone missed the earlier posts, it's snowing (apparently this is news? )

I watched a God-awful abortion of a football game for the 2nd time in 2 days, visited my grandfather, and came home and cooked. I'll fold some clothes, press stuff for tomorrow, take out the trash, and it's bedtime for me.

I was "cleaning up" my facebook profile last night, deleting bad pics and trying to get it a little more PG, since there are more and more people requesting friendships:rolleyes: that shouldn't see that stuff. While doing this I found a picture of me with wolverine trumpet that I had never seen before, that was a surprise!:p

Evening, Lodge!

As for how I fared today:

place: 829
Age group: 76th
Time: 5:11:10
Pace: 11:53/mile

For being a first time marathoner, I think I did well. However, I did not anticipate my legs turning into cement at mile 20. Thankfully, my Team in Training coaches and other runners kept spurring me on, encouraging me to just keep moving, and when I finally saw the finish line, I gathered whatever I had left, and surged for a strong finish.

I have a brand new medal and a Team in Training finishers pin to show for my efforts... plus I had a chocolate gel-stache after the race, but after finishing a marathon, who cares if you've got a little energy gel on your face?

Post-race, the marathon provided the standard water, gatorade, fruit, and bagels, plus they offered string cheese, yogurt, chili from Wendy's, beer from New Holland brewing company, and frozen custard from Culver's.

During the Team in Training victory celebration, we dined on roast beef, roasted potatoes, a Caesar salad, corn, chicken wings, plus a tray with grapes, crackers, baguettes, and various cheeses. Don't think I'll ever eat as well again as I did this weekend.

As for tomorrow, I have to work, but I've been told to rest and go for a little walk to keep the blood flowing.

Well, have a great night, folks.

Hey SB, Was the race in which you ran a "Rock and Roll" marathon? The reason I'm asking is that today in Denver the "Rock and Roll" marathon was run. Apparently there are approximately 20 cities which stage "R & R" marathons. Weather wasn't terrific for the race here as the temps climbed into the 80s. Good thing the race started at seven in the morning. Congrats on your finish.

Nope, I ran the Grand Rapids marathon this morning, and it was cold. Thankfully, it warmed up to the mid-50s as the day progressed, which meant I could take off my hat and gloves.

'grats! Sounds like quite a memory you'll have for years to come. Glad to hear you are satisfied with the results after all the hard work preparing for it:)

I got every line but "livin' just to find emotion"... never quite knew what he was singing there. :o

It took a LOT of listening to that song to figure out exactly what that line was. Even after all that, I didn't know it for certain until I took that quiz. :o :p

I knew that line, surprisingly, because every time I hear it, I think of Anchorman and "glass case of emotion.":o
