Re: fashion trends: ah, the age of Cooperalls. :o

Just checking in. Making chocolate Guinness cake for tcbg's birthday today. :) It makes soooo much cake though! (4 cups flour, 4 cups sugar, 2 cups Guinness, etc).
Mrs. Jon and I will be over momentarily.

Save some for me, would ya?

Evening, Lodge. MAX plus all the other crap. ;)

Michigan's "Bridge Card" (aka Food Stamps) reloaded on the first of the month, so Walmart was freaking insane today. I didn't get any of my breaks on time, left late, blah blah blah. Let's just say that I'm glad my shift tomorrow is only four hours instead of the nine I had today

Even on my normal days I never get breaks on time...most of the time an hour or so late, and sometimes not at all...meanwhile, some coworkers will alert someone if they don't get a break within 10 minutes of the scheduled time.

Yeah, my HS team wore them. :o
As bad as they looked the worst part was if you fell, especially early in a period, (best part of my game BTW, falling down) you'd slide 'til you hit the boards. Or the net. Or the goalie. Or just went right out the Zamboni doors. :D

Won't be there, but SLU begins with an exh against U of Toronto at 4pm tomorrow. If all goes to plan as of right now, I'll get to see them play RIT and Niagara the 16th and 17th.

For those of you keeping score at home. Regarding the Twins, I have my ticker tape supplier on stand by/speed dial.

We're supposed to. I think Walmart got sued by a former employee a while back because they weren't getting their breaks, but I'm not entirely sure. All I know is, we're never supposed to work for more than two hours without a break.

Two hours? Crap, I wish I had that gig.

Usually it goes 2.5-3 (then lunch*) then 2.5-3 (then break) then work until we're done.

*40 min lunch, instead of 30 min lunch/10 min break, although I could insist on the 30/10 split if I wanted

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

So I just found out the dress up days for GHS's homecoming week--I'll be there for jersey day and I'm so excited!!

Often times the reason we don't get them on time is there isn't enough people scheduled for coverage at the lanes if they all went when they were supposed to. I get really annoyed when I'm covering for the head cashier (watching Photo as well) and they bug me for it, completely ignoring the fact that I've been there an hour longer then them and have not had that particular break yet, mainly because I need to stagger mine with 3 other areas. I don't think they like it when I (who is technically their peer) tell them that they have to wait until a certain person comes back.

We're have to be punched out for lunch no later then 6 hours after we punch in...my favorite are the ones that cite the rule when they get to 4.45 hours as to why they should go on break now and not have to wait.

working in the demo department at Sam's Club, we're assigned breaks, and they're every two hours. Usually we have four people going on break every half-hour every Saturday, and it still leaves enough people to hand out samples to customers.

And I checked my schedule; sure enough, I'm working on October 19, the day after the Grand Rapids marathon. Fun.

We have a "constant" flow of business, where we have a measurement on "cycle time" (once the we start picking a batch of orders, there's an x amount of time before it should be ready to ship) so we look for a natural "break" to schedule lunches/breaks. It varies from 5 minutes to a half hour, day to day. It sucks.

Same guy who's organizing the toilet paper parade for the Golden Golfers' after their win over the Badgers today. Correct?

Yeah, thought so. Roast Bowl.

We have two half hour breaks for each 7.5 hour day (8 hours, counting one unpaid 1/2 hour break.) Where they fall, no one knows, but they're usually spaced somewhat evenly through the day... there's been some days where I haven't gotten the first break for 4 hours though, which gets annoying.
