Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

A gorgeous Fall day here in Denver. We had our miserable weather last week with three and a half or four days of temps in the 40s with slate gray skies and rain. Terrific weekend with temps back in the 80s and the first day of the new workweek brought more blue skies. The weather guessers are saying we'll be in the 70s and 80s through Wednesday before cooling to the low 60s and high 50s later in the week.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

Good morning. Here in 651 land it seems we went straight from September to November.

Yup, sometime yesterday afternoon Mother Nature brought in the industrial-sized fans. Or maybe it was just St. Cloud proving that they blow. ;)

And it's no better down here. It's spitting rain and the wind is going to blow for the next two days. Mother Nature just pimp-slapped us into fall.

Same with 763ville. On the plus side, the leaves will finally get out of this "should I change - should I just get dead" phase.

Morning, Lodge.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

I'm craving a McGriddle. There isn't much I like at McDonalds. But I like those.
They are like crack ain't they. I'm sure if they offered them all day people would buy them more than Big Macs.

Spinach is disgusting.
I'm strong to the finish becaus I eats my spinach. I'm Popeye the Sailor Man!!! :D TOOT!!!! TOOT!!!! :D

Too bad that I am taking off from work on Monday due to Yom Kippur. Redskins *****ing should be at an all-time high. :D
Lions fans would pay good money to listen to that. ;)

Well, you made it to 10. Mine was crappy at 4:30 AM when I was lying there thinking of all the things I would like to say to the azzhats at L'il's ex-team. I didn't get to sleep until almost 2 with the same evil thoughts in my head. Too bad I couldn't be like Carrie (that is the chick in the movie that used to wreak havoc on the kids she didn't like in school, right?)

Hope your day gets better.
You know, you just offer a little money to a few hard up members of the lodge that are in your area and I'm sure the collective of AZZHATS there would be able to start having even lousier days than you. like nails in their tires when its pouring rain bad. ;) :D

Yeah, just before I went to bed last night was looking at the weather coming and woke mom up to bring in some horses that we normally keep outside. It was pretty nasty looking that radar and we just got em in right before it started to rain.

Waiting to get a few more ducks in a row and then the boom is going to drop. Unfortunately I do not have a male appendage b/w my legs so I just get to hear the aftermath. :(

Good for you. If this situation happened to me/my family I would like to think that I would run (within reason) this issue as far up the flag pole as possible.

The problem is we know one of the owners who is a really nice guy. I don't think they know we know the guy. I hope not. It would make things so much more satisfying.. Otherwise the flag would be hanging off the moon somewhere.

I am curious. The subject we are discussing is your son and his hockey experience, correct? If so, who is the "owner" you are referencing? Owner of what? :o

The team. He was playing in the 2 tier of the select league in NE. All the select teams are run for profit and have owners/investors. Huge proliferation of the select teams in our area has decimated the town system in the last few yrs. Recently a number of them have folded (like L'il's team last yr) but it still screws up the whole system.

Got it. (I have never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed. ;) ) Select teams that are run for profit? Interesting concept. I have been out of the loop regarding MN and youth hockey for quite a few years but I do not recall such a system here.

Firmly plant that flag on the moon!

Hi Lodge.

Worrying about the bf is no fun. He went on a business trip to tWorst state ever with someone who he told me is a crappy driver. Haven't heard from him yet, hoping it's just 'cause he's busy working, but I did send a text when he should have just been riding in the car (and I would think he'd have responded).

Also, lower back pain blows. I'm way too young to feel this crappy. Seriously, I'm holding on to things every time I sit down or get up. I played around online to see what suggestions there were and what I found was don't stretch/over exert but also don't rest as it'll take longer to heal.

I think I messed it up about 2 weeks ago moving some of the last stuff from the apartment. It's been a dull ache until I went karting last week. Then I was stupid and played hockey Friday night (and got 3 hours of sleep) before going to football and "marching"/standing all game. My back is not too pleased with me.

Only in summer hockey here so far (except for one group running their own mite and squirt leagues - so far:rolleyes: ).

ETA: wT, one of the best things is, if you can tolerate it - walk. Not too far or too fast, but it really helps loosen the back. Also, ice. Pretty much any injury needs ice or a frozen gel pack. Watch the posture too.

ThermaCare heat wraps are where it's at. I occasionally suffered lower back pain in college (sports related injury - sometimes to the point where I could not stand up unless I could lean on something) and those were the only thing that really helped me out - worked better than industrial strength pain killers. YMMV.

I would tend to think that the MN youth hockey association is a big enough machine that it would be difficult for these "select" teams to make a dent. However, if I had to bet I would say somebody or something in cityslickerville has or is trying to burst the bubble. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

One of my patients looked at me once and told me she was going to live in a state where the people worked to live and didn't live to work. I have never forgotten that. I gave up a much higher paying job to work where I am now and haven't had a raise in a 'few' years. I am much happier. You need to plan before you pull the plug tho.

To even piggy back on that, I had a prof say to me once "you gotta love where you live, after that you can work things out". So I can understand why CHA wants to stay where he is. Its also the same reason why I am looking for jobs all over the country, me wants to go exploring!

BTW CHA, just posted about 10 Civil jobs today :-P

Great day in 231-land. Started off my morning with a 20 mile run, did a "roving demo" today at work and crushed my goal (supposed to sell 6 units, sold 20), and had a pretty good turkey sandwich for lunch.

20 miles nice!!! someday too I will run 20 miles.

At least they don't have dingleberry pie.

ok two things
1) ewwww
2) I may have to save that line for later.

I have had whale! In Reykjavik. Whale sushi. I said, Aren't whales protected? They said their whale was caught before the bans, and was being kept in the freezer, and they thawed out as much as they needed. Kind of wish they'd told me that before I ate it. Still, it was interesting. Very beef-like.
Some places allow limited hunting on whales, mostly for cultural purposes. I believe Iceland does not follow the EU ban on hunting whales, which is one of their hangups about joining the EU. Currently Iceland is not an EU member. And while they do not allow widespread hunting, it is monitored as otherw fishing industries. Why the heck I know this I am not entirely sure.

I didnt know those select teams are run for profit, that is kind of crazy too. When did kids sports get so crazy. It wasnt like that when I was a kid, I did see a little of it when my brother played hockey but it wasnt too bad (he was a C player).

I saw the most outlandish behavior out of parents when I worked at the hockey rink. Insanity. I was thankful to have the glass to protect from from the animals when I made ice.

Chiropractor might help. I just started going to one and I wish I had gone earlier!!! (over course the landing on my head via the boards might of sped up that process).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 84: Steal This.

Anyone have suggestions for stuff to take to help make the pain of a blinding toothache go away? I've been cramming Aleve like my name was Brett or Rush but I need something over the counter to help pile on since... I can't afford to get it worked on.

Suggestions for a soon to be pill-popper?
