Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Good Morning Lodge!

Got a call this morning, the house I'm trying to buy just went back on the market, now in full foreclosure instead of short sale. So I'm probably going to put an offer in on Monday.:D

and I repeat my sentiments from Thursday: Tom Watson!?!

Yeah, hurry up and buy the place. Then we can have a party. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Greetings all. Sun is finally out. I did 4 loads of laundry, some other cleaning, etc. I may treat myself to a few hours at the pool. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Well, it IS the steroids era....
I don't think that is the case. He's leading because he knows Turnberry and the different winds probably better than anybody else alive on top of probably being the best links player since world war 2. He's won there before in both the Open and more recently the Senior Open and most importantly, he isn't going to get rattled like some younger guys because he's already won 8 majors.

Afternoon Lodge!

Went and picked up my birthday present - a bike. Just went for a nice hour ride on the Greenway (a paved path that runs all around, over, under and through Cheyenne.)

Mornin' Loj!

OK, to appease Lewis and the Monstah: a band-aid.

Way back when I temped one of my jobs was at the Country Kitchen bakery. The second-worst job I've ever had...I had to spend 12 hours with an oven behind me, looking at a clock. One night when we were mixing the dough for hot dog buns one of my cow-orkers reached in the batter and came out sans band-aid. And he didn't notice... I didn't eat hot dog buns from Country Kitchen for a while...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Men's slow pitch softball is ridiculous. Why does this sport even exist as an international event?

Currently 24-16 USA over Canada in the 4th.

Oh and apparently the US is in trouble because they only have 1 HR left (after that they are outs) and they don't have a big enough lead.

Umm so the obvious question. If HRs are a detriment, why does every guy on the team look like he's 6-3, 240. Mix in a few singles hitters!

Crappy TV choices at this time of day? :p

Actually I just flipped to it accidentally. Otherwise I would not know that it existed. But alas I can never get back that naivety (sp?).

They may be big guys, but they can hit singles and doubles, too. And HRs are not a detriment, if used right (they mentioned having 2-3 guys on base for sure, unless it's late in the game).

And the US was in trouble because Canada had so many of THEIR homers left.

Anyway, it was an ASA game, and ASA sucks. The difference between ASA and USSSA (the different leagues of softball) is:

ASA: pitch must have at least 6 foot arc, and cannot be more than a 12 foot arc

USSSA: pitch must have at least a 3 foot arc, and cannot be more than a 10 foot arc

There's also a difference in bats (how much "pop" they have, due to the composites). The ASA is more strict while the USSSA has very few "illegal" bats.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I always thought the game was implying he had burning urination when it said that.

Speaking of that game, the fact the middle of the game was far more difficult than the end makes me question the sanity of the programmers. Why would you make some average monsters more difficult to kill than the supreme bad*** himself that cursed you upon killing him in the first place? Cripes, the end of the first castlevania was 6.022x10^23 times harder to beat than the 2nd and 3rd combined.

It blew my mind how easy it was to beat Dracula in Simon's Quest. It's like an even bigger kick in your junk after doing all the BS in between. You know... Like kneeling in front of a wall while holding a red crysytal (if you figured that out and were anal enough to talk to EVERYONE in EVERY town).

At least the music for the game ruled.

You know WAYYYYYYYY too much about this. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Turned into a great day, weather-wise. Pool was warm. Almost done with my book. Just made a steak for dinner. It was good! Think I'll treat myself to some ice cream for dessert.

Evening, Lodge. It was a bit (ok, a lot) chilly here in 612land and 763ville, but I'm treating myself with a pizza for now and one for leftovers :D

glad i'm not the only one.....:D

Hey, you play for 10 years, you learn a few things, especially if a couple of your friends are on tourney teams (one is even on a Class B team, which is like the "minor leagues" for what you saw on ESPN). :p

Around MN, it's almost all USSSA, and WI (at least western WI) is more ASA stuff. I played in one ASA tourney near Eau Claire one year (my Class B buddy, who wasn't in Class B at the time, needed a guy for his team), and after that experience with those abortions of the rules, I swore I wouldn't play ASA again. It was terrible.

Edit: as for the HR limit (and some other related "outs" and such), a team I occasionally played for had these rules:

Solo shot? That's a pitcher of beer for the team

HR after the limit was reached? That's a pitcher of beer.

Last out of the game? Pitcher of beer.

Double play to end the game? 2 pitchers of beer.

Strikeout (remember it's a 3-2 count, not 4-3 like in baseball: if you hit a foul ball with a strike on you, you're out): pitcher of beer

:D

who's the judge on height of the pitchy deals?!? "foul!!! that pitch was 5'10"!!" :p

The ump calls it. After a few games, it's usually sort of easy to see. You just get used to it. And technically, it's not even called an illegal pitch unless the batter lets it go by (and then the pitch is called a ball: illegal pitch), which is tricky when it's a full count, because if the pitch is close, you better be swinging. ;)

Man, I miss playing softball. :(
