Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Good morning Lodge.

I heard a commercial driving to work this morning for Gun-A-Palooza. Sometimes I love the south.

I remember back in college we took a rented motor home to Florida for spring break. We stopped at a gas station in southern Indiana. I could barely understand what the attendant was saying and he couldn't understand me at all. It was worse than east Texas accents.

Good morning Lodge.

For those of you following along with As The World Turns in gville......

I had planned on having a discussion with the MIL, FIL and BIL with my wife present last night. It turned out that MIL and FIL decided to not come over until tonight.

The key player in this mess is the BIL. He did stop over last night and I did have a very straight forward talk with him. I gave him the opportunity to fess up and come clean. He looked me squarely in the face and flat out lied. Due to that, tonight there is going to be a bigger fireworks show than I had anticipated. It will make my firework show at last years ttp look like childs play. :)

It is. To make matters worse, Mrs. g's family is small (Mrs. g, mom, dad, brother. Not including me and the little g's) and they are very close. My posts may have a bit of humor to them but this is not going to be a fun conversation. I am going to give all of them a dose of reality that is going to make them second guess many many things. I had a tough time sleeping last night.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

To revisit a conversation from several threads ago, about good 1st date ideas in the Twin Cities....What was the name of the restaurant in uptown that was suggested that had the rooftop patio with the great view of downtown? I'd like to go there, but don't remember the name. I'll also have to figure out a way to fight off the hippies.

How much do tickets to attend this extravaganza cost? PPV? :D

:( I'm sad to hear this. Family drama is always so unfortunate. Mine has it's fair share, for sure, and it's why my sister, brother, and I have already adopted a "no bs" policy with each other. Honesty and calling it as we see it. It causes a few tiffs, for sure, but at least we know we're being 100% straight with each other, and maybe we won't have the issues my parents and their siblings have.

Good luck doing what you have to do, gmann.

For everyone whose parents are getting up there in years...all of us...get them to make a will! And figure out who gets what of the personal items. Probably no greater cause of family strife than dealing with the estate after a death. :(

My mom did a great job of preparing this and it was still a ***** to deal with when she died.:( Make sure their wishes are spelled out in detail and very specifically.

Don't know if this relates to gmann's issues, but I know a lot of families where conflicts could have been avoided/minimized if the deceased wishes had been spelled out in advance. The woman across the street from us died last December, the house is still in probate.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I have 7 posts until 10K. How can I have this many posts and say virtually nothing most of the time??????

And sadly I still feel like a n00b.
Don't feel bad. I have over 20K posts and I feel the same way as you.

Do what you need to do, gmann!

And good morning, Lodge. It's a beautiful day out; nice enough to put the picnic table out and have lunch on the front lawn.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm always looking for some good places to eat around the cities.

I've been to Hell's Kitchen, it was very good. I've also been to Psycho Suzy's, but not for a meal, just for drinks later in the night, I've been meaning to go back for food sometime.

This doesn't sound like fun. I'll tell how my family handles problems, we ignore them and don't see each other for years at a time. Your way, while not fun will probably work out better.

It is what it is. My side of the family is not very close. Seeing how a close family operates and how a distant family operates there are pros and cons for each.

Oh my, you want dining suggestions? I am filled with them. What's your pleasure?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Good morning Lodge...or afternoon...or whatever time it is. Ten hours of sleep sandwiching two hours of insomnia seems like a good trade.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Hey kids. No, I have not been off the board because of Hammer's dream. ;)

Took the day off yesterday as my brother is visiting from the left coast for a couple of weeks. The show is on hiatus for a while and he never gets to come home during the summer. He wants to go to Cape Cod for a few days. Anyway, I took yesterday off (Friday afternoon as well). We took my nieces to Canobie Lake Park for the day. It was hot and muggy. A great day for it. Though I may be getting too old for amusement parks as I got kinda dizzy after a couple of rides and had to tell my nieces that they were on their own for a few of them. Maybe it was the heat. That said, still fun. Then I took the older one (who is also my godchild) to the Red Sox game last night. I was so exhausted when I got home that I was actually looking forward to work today in order to relax.

Going to the Sox game again tonight. And tomorrow night, too.

Nathan - I met up with a cousin of mine on Sunday and her husband told me he just started a new job with your company in the Groton office. I was like "Hey! I know someone who works for them!" Are you still traveling east for another visit (that I will miss because I will be in Chicago)?

Yes, I'll be heading to Groton in August. PM me his name and I'll see if I know who he is yet.
