Good morning LODGE. I'm getting a nice early start to a busy work week. Hope yours goes well! :)

huskyfan- re: your rep

heh, I'm assuming you saw that on boatnerd? Silly people, we were anchored just S of Port Huron waiting for a turbocharger to repair our engine. No groundings have occurred yet, haha.

and Leswp1: I'm on a ship up on the great lakes for a school internship of sorts until August, and I'm trying to get pilotage time for some of the rivers near Sault Ste. Marie and Detroit, so I work throughout the time we're there (usually 8-10 hours). I know that doesn't sound like much, but sleep usually comes in short batches out here, and that day I could have slept while in our first port, but wasn't tired until just when I had to go work... go figure.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

Definitely.

The trip was terrific. Not a drop of rain the entire time. The locals I spoke with from Fairbanks to Ketchikan all said it was the nicest stretch of consecutive days of weather they'd had in nearly four years.

You were right. Visiting Alaska and seeing the vast expanses of mountain ranges, ocean and wilderness is humbling. Visiting the Yukon was my personal highlight.

Welcome back, sounds like you had a great time (except the whole train v. man thing, of course). :)

Where is she? You know who. ;)

You're going to be spending the rest of your life (well, at least a good chunk of it, in the working world, you might as well enjoy college, a time when life is easier. The real world will still be there after 4 years.

And you will be in it much quicker than you think.

What sort of ship? I used to spend a lot of time staring at the shipping lane outside my window at my last job and loved watching cargo/natural gas/etc ships go in and out of port.

Unfortunately I am still not motivated to get any work done today.:(

bulk carrier hauling ~65,000 net tons of coal from Duluth towards Detroit.

2 more year's and I'll be a 3rd mate (4th in line for the navigational side of things. Engineers never see the sun =])

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

I never took anything for motion sickness the entire trip. While cruising through Glacier Bay we we sitting on our stateroom deck and hoping for even the slightest breeze to cool us down.

On a very sad note, the train taking us from Mt. McKinley to Whittier struck and killed a man who was attempting to get his dog off the tracks. We were delayed for several hours and they had to hold the ship since there were 400 cruise passengers on that train. Since we were in the last train car, our car crew, along with the conductor, were first responders. I give them credit for seeing what they saw, trying to help and then having to entertain us for another four hours. With one or two exceptions, everyone in our rail car was somber and respectful of the terrible event. The exceptions were a couple of people who whined and cried about the delay.

IMHO Due to the fact that while on an Alaskan cruise you are rarely in vast open water therefore motion sickness tends to be rare.

Besides the train ride, what other excursions did you do?

Wow, a casulty on the tracks. That is to bad. :(

Alaska for seven million dollars.

New York for twenty four dollars and some wampum.

I still think the U.S. got screwed in the deal for New York. ;)

And Michigan got the UP in exchange for Ohio getting Toledo. :p

Morning, Lodge. Nothing in particular happening around here today.

the other lesson I've learned in life is you're only racing yourself. Nobody else.

Really? I expected something like this out of bigmrg74, but not you, and I've met you and NorthernLite personally and obviously like you both.

With all due respect...pretty weak asking to bring in a bunch of voters who don't give a crap about DIII.

Leave them to their Yooper band retard fight fest, and DIII to DIII.
Blow it out your ear and Adrian Forever!!! :p :p :p ;)

If you wanted to keep out D1 Posters, you should have made the voting public.

I never got to bong a beer through a road cone at the Yooper Loop.

When I first started looking at majors/scheduling classes, I saw a way for me to get out in 3 years (with summers, etc.)
I sadly realized that then I would be only 20 when I graduated, and furthermore could not do Senior Walk.
Don't be a fool!!! STAY in school.

Why the f-ck do you want to leave college early? What's the matter with you?
Exactly!! You're only young once, and you should take the time to enjoy it before you're saddled with the responsibilities of real life. Take a summer to go do something adventurous, like a few weeks in Europe riding the rails, or hike the Appalachian Trail perhaps, something that you wouldn't be able to do if you're working a regular nine to fiver.

Morning Lodge.

I have a funny e-mail about my hotel reservation from the manufacturing rep we work with in China.

"[company] will book [hotel] and I have notified [employee] not to book the one Mandy stayed last time (as they do not have the beer you like..)they will give me confirmation by Monday."
Looks like they're starting to wise up on keeping you happy there Mandy. ;)

And Michigan got the UP in exchange for Ohio getting Toledo. :p

Man did we get a good deal on that. FU Ohio!! And FU Toledo!!!

Dude...no. And no whoring for votes when my game comes up, either, and that's probably going to happen later today.

I tried to help out a couple of friends. It looks like it worked for this round, but it's going to come back to bite me in the ***. And if that's the way it works out, that's fine.

Totally agree and wish I'd done those things instead...

Eh, I just don't see why XYZ is crying about. That silly tournement is nothing more than just a timekiller over there in D3 anyways. Doesn't really even mean anything other than just cheap entertainment for the week. Personally, I think having the votes public would be more entertaining as it would add a little more spice for the contestants when they see just who has and who hasn't voted for them.

From what little I've read of it, the D3 Forum is crazy.

I should spend more time there.
