Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 195: Who ends up at the RR Country Club for the summer 1st?

No, because IDGAF.

I took a nap. What did I dream about? Tax returns. Great...

Is there a way to check and confirm the IRS received my return? I usually get my state refund really quickly. Haven't received it yet. I'm OK with them telling me it will take x-amount of time. I'm just slightly panicking that it never arrived.

Not sure how your return was prepared, but when we use our software, we get confirmation that the IRS has accepted the return filed. I've also found that with Turbo Tax as well.

Oh, and the IRS website being down for a good chunk of today does NOT help matters one bit.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 195: Who ends up at the RR Country Club for the summer 1st?

I had an accountant prepare it. Then I mailed it.

On a paper-filed return, I've seen where they want you to wait 2-4 weeks before you check on it. If you're expecting a refund, you could go to http://www.irs.gov/Refunds. Calling the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 is a last result, but be prepared to wait on hold for a while.

My dad didn't want to switch his PCP when they moved up there because he's been seeing him for a long time. My mom changed. My SIL has been hounding him to make a change to a doctor closer to where they live. This might actually be a good reason for him to make the change. It's a pain because his PCP is in Boston. Hard for him (them) to get down here for appointments. His cardiologist is connected to LGH. The hospital is so close to where they live, if 911 is called, that's where they take him.
Exact scenario that my friend's parent had. I ended up sitting down with them and talking about it for about an hour. She ended up switching and now is very happy she did. The family is ecstatic. Every time there was an admission it was a ridiculous amount of work for the family to make sure everyone was on the same page. You could try enlisting the PCP to tell him it is time for him to change.

Change is hard. THe person I talked to was worried they would fall thru the cracks if they switched. I laughed right out loud. Fat chance of that. They are incredibly vocal and the family doesn't fall far from the tree.

I feel like it's so hard when you've developed a relationship with your PCP to change, but this is medicine. All of my friends who are pregnant and delivering are talking about how not to get attached to your OB/GYN since they may not be the one who delivers your baby if they're not on duty that week in their practice. My dad is retiring in June and his patients are talking about how devastating it is that he won't be there for them anymore. It's tough for him as well since he's had a practice for 30 years and is very close to some of these patients, but it is MOST DEFINITELY time for him to retire (honestly, it was time a few years ago).

I have had 3 different PCPs since moving to NH. I haven't particularly liked any of them, but the one I have now is the best of the 3.

My GYN was my PCP. I finally broke down and started to work with my PCP office after he retired and then my NP retired (all my fault. She listened to me about having a life and decided she wanted one too!). Small practices have OBs that deliver their own patients. Problem is small practices are being forced out by the hospitals who want the money and do everything they can to make the private places fail :(

Worse you get the insurance stuff where you can be priced out of the market by tiered co-pays. If you have a specialist or PCP that cares for complex patients they are penalized and are tiered higher. Insurance only looks at utilization- how many tests, meds, etc the person orders. They don't look at whether it is warranted or not. Ergo the Provider that cares for people who are train wrecks is punished as are their patients who pay more to see the person.

They are forcing medicine into a business model. Anyone who has worked in medicine for any length of time knows this is a recipe for disaster. Just waiting to see how long before it tumbles down :( :(

I’ll never get people who get antsy about refunds. It’ll come when it does. Whatever.

Oddly, the IRS doesnt feel the same way when you have to pay in.

Also, a lot of people live paycheck to paycheck. So any money helps them. Different discussion if they are claiming correctly to begin with. But most fear having to pay in.

C’est la vie

I get your point on paycheck to paycheck. That’s valid.

Mornin’ y’all. Downgraded us to 2-4 inches of snow only today. The forecast on the horizon looks much better though. FINALLY.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 195: Who ends up at the RR Country Club for the summer 1st?

It's not snowing here in AK and likely warmer as well, hope that makes you all feel better.

On another note, it's the offseason and even now my team's thread is unreadable. JFC.

Today might be the first time I've ever seen the client's project manager so triggered by upper management telling him to get out of the way and let us lead the discussion, that he actually stormed out of the room for a few minutes. :)

Why do I have a picture of someone going “BUT I HAVE PEOPLE SKILLS!!!”?
