Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

les' -- we're unlikely to do the condo thing as we'd really like our own space, hence the staying in NH and just dealing with the commute. We may end up only staying 10 years as my eventual goal will be PICU/NICU at Children's, but we won't be able to afford our apartment in 10 years if the rent continues to climb at even half the pace and our salaries aren't going up in a commensurate fashion. Plus, I'll have a large portion of my loans paid off in 10 years, so that will help immensely. We're kind of limping along in the house search as this really isn't the time of year to look (I look at Zillow several times a year, but jettisoned our real estate agents as I didn't like either one). We're all set for pre-approval with the documents we'd need for pre-approval (and I'm getting as much tax stuff ready early so that we can get them done as soon as possible in 2017).

I look forward to doing some DIY stuff for the new house and learning new skills to help keep costs down, but I'm also realistic about my limitations of time and interest in maintenance stuff.

I am glad I don't need to think of all that stuff anymore. We bought and got smacked because the market crashed right when we were going to sell. Don't be in a rush.

Nighty night nocturnal ones.

Work is DEAD this week. Should have tomorrow afternoon off (Voluntary time off) if business remains the same. Getting some errands done.

As a single guy, don't want the responsibility of a full house, and don't want the pain of a townhouse association (though the latter would be negotiable). Apt it is, and I've lucked out each and every apt I've had for the last (mumble) years. Good mgmt, quiet complex, etc.

Patience is a virtue. I worked for 20+ years to get where I am (and it ain't much, but I'm happy). Had some highs, many lows, but here I am.

Howdy Lodge. Crappy weather starting here now. My brother is flying out tonight. Meeting him and my folks midway between here and their place for a late lunch. He's supposed to take the Logan Express bus to the airport but since my friend cancelled on me, I might as well take him to the airport. Hope he gets out. I don't feel like heading back to the airport to pick him up if his flight gets cancelled.

So quick question for all of you...last Friday I had a scheduled appointment for an oil change. As I had purchased new tires there a while back, they told me they could rotate my tires for free. Cool. Twenty minutes after I pulled away and while in traffic on a crappy, rainy night, my tire pressure light came on. Which had to be because of the tire rotation. Now, my gauge is sensitive and the light comes on a lot, but it's been off for a while and the fact that it came off right after they rotated my tires means they should check it and reset it for free, right? Shouldn't they have checked all that when they rotated the tires? And please don't tell me to go do it myself. Regardless of whether I had any ability to do that on my own, it's pretty apparent that the reason the light came on this time was due to them rotating my tires. I'm going in tomorrow morning for them to fix it and I'm not paying for anything dammit.

I don't know exactly how the air pressure monitor for tires works, if the wheel has to mounted onto its bracket such that a sensor relay needs to be aligned. That is really the only thing coming to my mind that would be *caused* by the service department, if that connection wasn't made.

Otherwise, how has the air temp out there been lately? When we were at -5F, my air pressure monitor was dinging at me, but then the light went out after a couple miles on the road because the air in the tire would heat up and bring my tires back up to the accepted minimum pressure values.

The TPMS is part of the valve stem. It's possible the sensor isn't picking up the signal from the wheel which may or may not work itself out after a while. There really is no way to test the TPMS without driving the car for a bit. They're battery operated so it's also possible the batteries are weak/dead in which case I think the sensor(s) need to be replaced.

Good Evening, Lodge!

Got tomorrow off. Not for a fun reason. Doctor appointment first thing in the morning. I was going to come in for the afternoon, but I have a personal day to burn before the new year and boss told me to take the whole day.

You preggo?

Enjoyed my afternoon off. Went to church, saw the old church's manager for the first time since old church closed, that was fun. Did some errands, traded some beer, and watched movies after that.

God No! The meds that prevent me from having one is messing with other meds.
