Good Morning, Lodge!
Survived Christmas at the in-laws. I am really confused by my BIL's relationship. They drove to St. Cloud separately. They are both from the area. The BIL's fiance drove to her parent's place after our family dinner and my BIL stayed back. Obviously, no one likes to sacrifice a thing or two in that relationship.
Maybe the BIL is really her side piece that she's not ready to show off to the family.

Having to work today, forgot my lunch so I went out to go through the skyway to find something interesting to eat. Even though most of the restaurants are open, it's so dead that it looks like 2016 is trying to kill downtown Minneapolis.
Minneapolis is building so much living space downtown and near the Vikings stadium that it's become ridiculous. The city has a goal of doubling downtown residents, and they're providing tax incentives to construction companies to build these mostly apartments and a few condos which then go unused at something like a 50% occupancy rate right now. And they're still building units. Most of these units start around $2300/mo for less than 1000 sq ft. Those are insane prices for this area when $800/mo will get you near the same space in the neighborhood just south of I-94, less than a 10-minute walk from here. The 21st century has been trying to kill downtown for nearly two decades. No one goes downtown to shop anymore so retail is dying. You only go downtown to eat anymore, but since it's so viciously competitive, it's hard to stay afloat.
For that matter, downtown had probably been dying for about 30-40 years. It's only hope is to make living down there more attractive. Millenials seem to like living downtown for some unexplainable reason.

My bro and his (long term) fiancee missed his inlaws' Christmas last year, because they were not fond of him having a new relationship. They've since warmed up, but it could be one of those things. Maybe fam disapproves in some way.
After last Thu-Fri, due to extreme slow business, it's gonna be odd tomorrow going back to work. I expect mega-business. Year-end, quarter-end, etc. Thankfully, I work 4 day weeks until Feb. Yay massive PTO.
