Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

I hope someone at Salvation Army takes good care of him!!!

I know I don't come in here much anymore but I need to vent and my family hasn't really gone public yet so if you know me personally please keep this to yourself and others you know here. **** Cancer! I was woken up at 3:30 this morning to my sister informing me that my dad has stage Iv Lung Cancer and it has spread to at least his brain. I just now have gotten to my parents house after a 4+ hour drive and will be heading up to the hospital shortly to see him. I don't really know what else to say other than **** Cancer. A little googling tells me that my dad has a 50/50 shot of making it 8 more months but with it already in his brain, I'm guessing that outlook is probably too optimistic.

Sorry man....

Mookie is hanging out here on day 2 of his sw Michigan trip. Staying at the cabins at lost dunes. Neat place here. Golfed on property today. Most of us are going to the notre dame game tomorrow after playing. Doing 36 more holes Sunday then flying back outta midway Monday morning and heading straight to work. Will be beat tired by then

Morning, Lodge!

Meeting up with the OC/church Lunch Bunch at a new place today; hoping the vibe of the place fits our style. We want to still meet up on Saturdays for lunch, so we're trying out new places until we find one that suits us.

After that, getting together with some GPLers for an annual fall party/bbq. Always a good time.

Good Morning Lodge.

At the office today. Getting a class presentation ready for the young guys for Tuesday. Hydronic system design basics, compelling stuff...

Evening, Lodge. Screwed up my schedule for this week. Not sure how that happened, but I'm frustrated!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

Trying to decide if I should go to MSP over next weekend or stay here and go to the Red Bull Air Races...hmmm

So it's actually Ralph's yawns that bring all the boys to the yard.

Howdy Lodge. Hope you all had a restful Sunday! I baked. I was going to make these Greek cookies anyway but apparently there is a bake off tomorrow at work so I'm bringing them. Also, I saw a recipe on Facebook from a site called The Greek Vegan. It's for these Greek string beans. While I certainly have no plans to go vegan, this is a dish I've had before - my mom makes it. Who knew it was vegan? Anyway, I made a batch that I can eat with dinner all week. Came out OK.

And it can't be said enough - I really don't want to go back to work tomorrow. It's been a nice week off!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

Evening, Lodge.

Lunch Bunch was okay, the vibe was right, but probably still deciding for future visits. The BBQ/party/GPL thing was very fun, caught up with some folks I haven't seen in a few months. Thankfully the rain held off until very late in the night. Did the usual churchin' for the NFL noon games today, and it looks like I'll be headed to a different branch of church next week, due to the Ryder Cup. Figuring today's location will be rather crowded on Sunday with the out-of-towners and such, although may swing by there after the tourney ends to hopefully talk some smack to one of the managers (the guy from Ireland) on America's win. ;)

Hmmm....

Just signed up for Sling TV. If I get a better over-the-air antenna to pull in ABC & CBS stations, and find a way to pull in Big Ten Network, and I can tell Direct TV where they can stick their service. I don't need to spend $100/month when I can get pretty darn close for $50.

The biggest problem with sling is only one TV at a time.
