You can get overlays...

Amazon

Yeah, it's not so much the keys themselves, it's the base into which the keys are set. The entire top of the CPU's cover, that might be the best way to put it.

Regardless, the more I use the PC, the less I'm noticing it.

Good Morning Lodge.

Great day to go to the Fair yesterday. Weather couldn't have been better and the crowds were lighter than they are later in the run. Got to watch my cousin's kid march in the parade too.

Let's have a good day and try not to cause the beating of someone with a shovel, okay?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

So I bought a new laptop after spending some time shopping online. The one I chose was a certified refurbish - fast and powerful with a 1TB HDD and 17" display and I got it cheap. The only problem is that the thing looks like it came from a princess's display case. The exterior stated it was gold, which it is, a pale gold. Fine, I don't care about that. The problem is that the keyboard face is white with this gold sort of filigree across it. It's *ing horrible looking! That part did not come across in the online photos. If I return it due to that, it's a $40 restocking fee. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

What brand?

Good Morning, Lodge!

Scored free Brewers tickets for tonight's game. Flew to Milwaukee yesterday. Now to have several jokes prepared for the barber while my dad gets his hair cut.

What brand?

HP Pavilion for $400. It was a great price for the deal. The machine probably lost $50 in value because of the filigree junk.

Sitting here in an exam room for my annual physical. Appointment was for 10:30. It's almost 11:10, haven't seen or heard my doctor. Had all the preliminary stuff done. Hey les - what does low tone mean when taking BP? She had to do it three times.
? No idea.

Good Afternoon Lodge! Forgot to sign in this morning. I used to think 'retirement' would be relaxing. I am still waiting!

Thanks, I think - most of that is Greek. I have bought a refurbished PC from Dell and it has worked out well. Does HP have an online store?

I think she just wasn't doing it correctly or her stethoscope was broken or something. I got my lab results online. I can't seem to locate my A1C results. Need to call.

And les, if you are so inclined and have any time, the Greek church in Dracut on Mammoth Road is having its festival this weekend.

Basically, all it means is that it's a fairly fast PC - fast enough to do most things short of really intense videogames and high-end graphics rendering.

I actually found it on Amazon. Every manufacturer sells refurbished machines, so I'm guessing the seller on Amazon is someone who has a connection to pick them up for cheap and then resells them to the public. It never occurred to me to look for a refurbished computer, but when I saw the specs, price and applicable warranty, I decided to give it a whirl.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Today Tuesdayed on me. I got stuck on about five hours worth of fixing an issue because the production user either hasn't been told how her main processing system works or she's ignoring them and blaming everything on a "messed up" system. Turns out someone at UBS either had a system issue of their own or decided to smoke a bowl and miss a deadline.

Ditto for me:
Business was heavy.
A printer was down at the main, I have the only other one. Couldn't get a tech in to fix. So I had to wait 90 minutes extra, to get bills printed at my building and deliver them to main.
Suggested DHead Boss come down, set alarm (I don't have access), pick up bills, since they'd get to main at same time, I go home.
DH Boss, being the micromanager that he is, says no, doesn't make sense. (Um, wha?!). IMO, he cannot leave his lesser managers alone for 10 minutes.

Sure, I got paid 90 minutes O/T, but I'd rather have gotten home at a decent hour. Pure incompetency, from the way I look at it. Wasted money.

Successful first trip to the fair. Good food. Good beer. Sauce and Sludge doing initials with rubes. All in all, a great night. Now time to sleep.
