That sucks. Hopefully the bosses will see what's up sooner than later, and fix the glitch.

Our manager has noticed. He's taken the diplomatic approach so far. "If you're struggling, just ask. We're a team. Everyone needs everyone to get it." yadda yadda. He won't do it much longer, though. He's just waiting. He's from Fuller Park, Chicago. Super cool guy, but if he feels like he's being taken advantage of? *Shudder*

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

I would take Cleeeeeevland and not second-guess it. As the son of a UMi grad, I loathe Ohio, so that is saying something. LA is Detroit with infinitely worse sprawl and traffic (ouch). If it came down to absolutism, I could live in LA, but I would have to drive a very nice car to tolerate the commute.

Not for my company. That branch has a few probs, to put it politely. DHead Boss hinted at me to look into the NoCal Team Lead position a couple years ago....problem is, I will NEVER relo to CA. EVER. I'm fine where I am. I CAN move up, but I choose not to. Perfectly content where I am, as long as I can make a living.

Edit: Head Boss let it slip: "LA is a sh*hole." Not very management-like to let that slip. That is how well he knows his workers. ;)

*sigh* found out that Big Boss is resigning, effective in mid-Sept. Great boss, was a boss for the workers, not for corporate. Apparently got a better opportunity (as for advancement) with another company. His choices here were LA or CLE. Um, I understand his choice. ;) If DHead Boss gets his position, I'll understand, deal with it, and be sort of happy, b/c for whatever reason he cuts me some slack. Other than that.....it'll be VERY interesting to see who takes the job...

I guess all in all, if they let me do my thing, and leave me alone at off-site, I'm cool with whatever happens. My record in this position shows how good I am. No, that's not tArrogance talking, Big Boss did everything BUT explicitly say he'd like me on his team at the new company (recruiting is illegal, which he also specifically mentioned, when he told us of his resignation). He's rather good with getting a message across. ;)

Are you going to apply for his open position if it's posted?

That would be skipping over the team lead, [insert whatever title they have after that], AND process manager (in that order) positions, AND requires a degree (or be in the process of getting one). So, no. Too much BS and baggage that go with the position, too. Heck, I don't even want to be a team lead anymore. They don't make that much more than I do, and the responsibilities are far greater than what I have, despite me basically running my own building. :)

Busy day today, headed to church to gorge myself on that yuuuuuge burger, apparently the regulars are pumped to see someone try it. Then it's off for a pub crawl for Mrs bbdl's birthday.

I get it.

I have turned down positions within the company that would no doubt create significant opportunities for myself and my family. The one sticking point is that it would require a relocation to cityslickerville. Moving to cityslickerville is not something Mrs. g and I are interested in.

I greatly agree with the re-lo thing, especially with a family to consider. So much involved. You seem very content up north, and that is something you can't really put a price on.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Greetings Lodage. Long day but fun event today. It was POURING this morning. Poured last night too. Temp nowhere near where it usually is for Dallas in August. Of course. Heading out to dinner soon, going to bed early. How does your body know when you're done with something important and can finally hit you with the cold you've been fighting all week? I got back to the hotel and finally got stuffed up. I've felt like I've had a cold coming for the past four days but have been taking Zicam, Advil Cold and Sinus, EmergenC and it has helped. Now that I'm done with this event and headed home tomorrow, it seems like the dam broke after all those things were keeping it at bay.

Ate the burger with ease. Ate a bit of the sides.

A fellow GPLer's gf destroyed the burger and sides. Out-ate me, not even close.

A semi-regular even did better. Pure mutilation of the meal.

The pub-crawl was very fun, despite a few sprinkles.

Also, I walked in as the church bigwigs were walking out. Sept 17, that branch of church is closing. :( That happens to also be the day of a big beer fest, so I'll be dropping The Fifth off at home, and cabbing it to church for one last hurrah. Been going there for I dunno how many years (13ish?)...sad day at Chez Rube....

Heard you're making your new home Eden Prairie. That is a nice one, but parking sucks.

I'm going to have to start shopping for a replacement laptop soon. The wi-fi antenna is starting to fail intermittently. It goes out for a few minutes and then it all starts working again. I know it's not the networking equipment because I've been streaming Hulu and such on my TV without interruption on more than one occasion. So irritating.
