Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Meh. I used to do things only if I was with someone. Now I go where ever (as long as it is safe for a woman by herself) and think nothing of it. I have met some really neat people that way.

Only have been to one concert by myself (AC/DC). Buddy had to work at the last minute. Still enjoyed it.

Used to never go to movies/restaurants by myself. Now, I almost never want to go to a movie with anyone, and with my OC habit, gotten used to going to eat by myself, don't care anymore. And I agree, you end up talking with some interesting people.

I ended up at a Black Crowes concert alone, the Basilica Block Party back in 2010. I had two tickets purchased, but my buddy backed out at the last moment and I couldn't find anyone who wanted to use the second ticket. Oh well, I enjoyed the show.

I ended up selling my main floor ticket to some guy in need (was in a group, all but him had a ticket), for face. Made his day. Probably could have made money on it, but didn't care. I was pumped for the show.

Yeah, I sold my extra ticket while walking to the block party, but only for like $10. It got me a beer, so I was good with it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Hello, Lodgers. Rejoined the real world after an amazing 4 day weekend. Was so happy that I spent a little extra dough and went to Friday's concert. Had a blast the 2 live nights and watching the video of Night 1 at the HOB with about 1500 crazy people. Cried all 3 nights that we saw Pearl Jam (Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a small town reminds me of my grandmother's struggles with dementia and they played their cover of Love Reign O'er Me as well as the song Sirens which were our first and last dances at our wedding). Had some great Texas BBQ at our favorite joint near Fenway. All in all an amazing weekend.

Working Wed-Friday night, Sunday night, Tuesday night, and Thursday night and then my parents come up Friday through Monday (weekend of the 20th). I'll be ready for a vacation by the time they leave!

Any odd songs/guest appearances? Or has PJ done away with that? Also, any "Daughter" medley/improv at the end of that song?

Guest Appearances (non-musical): Peter Gammons (local sports writer), Kevin Youkilis
Guest Appearances (musical): Bronson Arroyo (former Sox pitcher who plays acoustic), Tom Hamilton (Aerosmith/Thin Lizzy), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Matt Cameron's son.

Daughter segued into WMA and then into part of Another Brick in the Wall (same as we heard in Tampa). Did covers of Masters of War, Draw the Line, Keep on Rockin in the Free World, Love Reign O'er Me, Baba O'Reilly, Comfortably Numb (done over the course of 2 3-3.5 hour shows).

Odd songs: Society (only played twice ever), I've Got a Feeling (tribute to a 10club member who is struggling with alcohol and grief over the loss of his father, special request); Angel (only 6th play ever). Both shows were amazing. Mike is just a beast on guitar -- I had a melty moment during Comfortably Numb.

I'll be devastated if there is no bootleg for these shows. The Tampa one is fun to listen to relive the memory of being there.

Angel and Got A Feeling? Beauty!

There will be bootlegs. It might take a while. Found my '95 show in Milwaukee about a decade after (it was before the Youtube onslaught). If anything, check the internet bootleg sites (no, I don't know of any, but there are some, duh). I used to trade in Goldmine (paper rag). Reliable.

They've released almost all of their shows. But the last big baseball stadium shows (Wrigley 1&2 in 2013) were never officially released. I'm hoping for at least audio. They recorded the Friday show and showed it Saturday night at the House of Blues -- it would be amazing to have the DVD released, but I'm not holding my breath. I have been listening to YouTube of people who recorded the show.

Good Morning, Lodge!

Fun time at the Twins game last night. Hubby and I decided not to go back tonight for the makeup game.

You might want to try nugs.net (I can't access the site at work - I'm about to get another talking to). A lot of bands put "bootleg" recordings of their live shows for sale on that site. The sound mixing isn't as good as what you'd get from a live recording released in stores, but it's usually better than an amateur bootleg you'd find on various sites.

I have a ticket for tomorrow night. My buddy's wife is planning a surprise party where a bunch of us will all be seated by the time they arrive.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

I'm feeling it today and I'm pretty worn out, but absolutely worth it. What a great venue. Beautiful and the acoustics were the best I've ever heard.

Church played the majority of his show with just him and his guitar, rarely used his band.. It was freaking awesome. 2 and a half hours too. I knew it was going to be amazing and it still exceeded expectations.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

One more day of *ing work. I LOVE driving 15 minutes to the main building (construction in the area means backups on about the only route I can take to the main building) to work for 10 minutes. Makes so much sense.

Seeing Animal House this weekend on the big screen. Apparently, it's an event thing in certain cities around the country. One theater is about 10 minutes away from me, so yeah I'm gonna go. Wasn't old enough to see it in theaters the first time around. Kinda pumped about this. Even bought the first seat available. :D
