Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Good afternoon Lodge.

For the first time in quite a few weekends I had nothing planned and that's exactly what I did this weekend. Nothing. Sat on my azz and took a couple naps.

Surly is worth a wait like that. Sam Adams, for the most part, is garbage beer.

They had two great ones, two horrid ones (didn't even bother finishing my taster), and the rest were about as average as can be.

Just got back from my niece's bday party. My family, my bro's inlaws, my bro's fiancee's family, and his best friend/wife. The best friend/wife and I actively avoided the majority of where all the others were. It was definitely MN Nice (On The Surface). Lotta underlying tension. The BFW and I had some convo about things, and we are all in agreement, that at some point, there's gonna be a blowup of some sort. Some of the in-laws are not exactly pleased that my brother is trying to move on in his life, and that his fiancee (they won't be married for a couple years, at least) is replacing their deceased daughter.

We had a potluck this evening at work for one of the nurse's birthdays and a doctor from elsewhere in the hospital showed up and has been grazing for an hour. He doesn't even have any patients in our department (or any potential patients). What a jerk.

teamwork makes a dream work :D

Care to dumb it down a notch?

POKEMON!!!!!!!!!!! ALL THE POKEMON!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's approaching GoT levels of fanboy-ism amongst social media. Even our (female) bartender yesterday was all "ZOMG POKEMON IS BACK!"

Pokemon. Reasons why I refused to go to MOA today. I would normally, but when you have DL and HBK looking, I decided to go to another bar. 2 beers away from finishing the tour. Will do that tomorrow. Plus side is that I have 2 free beers coming my way.

Wasn't that a stupid game for kids without friends in like 2001?

I have a Pokestop (in-game spot you can visit to get items) a few hundred feet from my house. Someone visited this spot and equipped the spot with a lure (item that makes Pokemon more likely to appear in that area for a few minutes.) I caught it early and went out.

Over the span of a half hour I saw no less than 10 people exit their houses and congregate over at the spot in groups of 2 or 3. It looked like the Millennial version of Night of the Living Dead. Sociologists are going to be studying this years from now.

I hate this generation.

This sounds like one of the dumbest things ever imagined.

I still don't get it.

I will second that.

You're better off this way.

Short of it is, it's a video game. They made it so you have to go out into the physical world to specific locations in order to be awarded different things, like the little monsters upon which the game is based.

I googled it. Now I get it. I guess it's better than sitting on your azz all day gaming. Might have to download for our next camping trip. Not.

Of all the companies that have tried for decades to get kids outside, it's Nintendo that comes through.

Until the first kid walks into traffic with his nose in his iphone playing this game and gets hit by a garbage truck.
