Just booked Disney tix. Went with VIP. A friend of a friend has connections so we got them for half price. Charged by the hour six hour minimum. No waiting in line. Kids get to meet characters behind the scenes and some other cool stuff. Good for up to 10 people.........

26 people on this flight to Houston. I look forward to an entire row to myself, and no screaming babies near me.

I'd have to agree. Going to time versus "x per y" is pretty stupid. Even if you have one error a day if you're 1 error per 10000 or 20000 task it isn't that bad.

The bosses talked with me and the other worker at my building about it. They are not pleased with it, either, and brought up the exact scenario before I could ask. They said some adjustments will be made, but for now, we just have to deal with it. So that's good, I guess. The BigBoss even said (I'm paraphrasing): "You put out an insane amount of volume down here (offsite) so yes, your chances of an error are greater. That's one reason we don't like this new standard." So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

I'm about to trigger some people.

Brent's old standard of 4 defects per 10000 opportunities represents a value of 4.85 sigma. That's actually pretty darn good, especially if you're working independently.

I'd have to know how many times he picks in a day to calculate if his new standard is any better.

I think my average week is about 2500. I get a printout every couple weeks, I just don't pay attention to it. :o Given the volume of the overall business, and the fact I also have to label/shrink wrap/etc all of it, it quite literally is the work of about 1.5 people, given how many order pickers we have at the main building.

I lost a contest last month because I made 2 errors on 91 trades, and the winner didn't make any on 9. Words were said.

Looks like I'll be heading to Stamford, CT in a couple of weeks. Five days on-site with an insurance client there.

And rightfully so.

Busy weekend for me, although I cannot wait. Making a beer trade, then heading north with Armadillo for a special beer release (that you needed to buy tickets for) and eating some dam good Caribbean (Lift Bridge, Smalley's in that order), and Sunday is my oldest niece's bday party.

Edit: forgot to stress: the 4/10K is the acceptable minimum. Currently, I'm running a 99.98%, or 2/10K.

In a previous life I used to travel to Stamford quite a bit as that is where corporate hq was located for Pitney Bowes.
