Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

Morning. Last Friday at work until March.

Hanging out above Baton Rouge, because they are limiting down bound vessels to daylight transit of a bridge right above the harbor. And for good reason, because this ol' river is earning the nickname mighty mississip lately.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

Morning! About to leave for beautiful Marquette Michigan and the UMD @ NMU series. I shouldn't be this excited about going there, yet I am.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

Good Morning Lodge.

Don't overdo the coffee there at the shop Ralph.

Hammer: my wife is in the same industry, although she is not degreed or Certified. I was after her for years to go on her own. It was clear to me from the time I met her in the early 80s that the CPAs she worked for were totally taking advantage of her. I could see she could do 90% of what she did on her own and avoid most of the crap (including tax season). About 8 years ago she finally got fed up with her employer (she really liked one partner, but the other was clearly taking advantage). She took a few months off and started looking, she now has 3 main clients and a couple minor ones and she keeps getting offers elsewhere to go to work for companies or take them on as clients. She is wayyy happier and making way more money than she ever did working for a CPA.

Jebus, our office sounds like a frickin hospital ward or something as so many of us are sneezing, coughing, and blowing our noses. The office was generally quiet this morning except for the background of sick people noises.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

Howdy Lodge. Landed a few minutes early, got my luggage and made it home really quickly. Got my car - it was there - yay! Then I went to breakfast. came home and crashed for four hours. Checked my email when I got up. Got an email from my boss asking me the status of a presentation I sent to her on Monday. It drives me nuts when she doesn't read my emails and then emails me looking for things I've already sent her. She's traveling today so I can't talk to her till Monday.

Need to unpack and do some laundry today before I head out on the road again Wednesday.

My boss tells people to message her and then tells people she never reads her messages. the only way to get her to look at anything is to text her or put a hard copy on her desk chair

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

I guess I'm going to have stop emailing her on Mondays. The Monday previous I uploaded my year-end review that she asked me for and sent her a note letting her know (she was out that day and I left the next day on my trip) and while I was on the road, she emails asking me where it was. I've resent the emails I initially sent to her. I have my year end review on Tuesday. Need to bring that up to her.

I got the job offer in North Carolina finally today. Accepted.

Finally, the ball is rolling on getting moved!

Congrats!

The hubby had his interview today. He was there for 2 hours just chatting away. My fingers are crossed that he will get an offer next week.

I gave notice today. It went as well as can be expected for those meetings - bossman is disappointed to see me go, but understands I no longer see my goals fitting in with the company or department's goals. Plus, the fat raise isn't too bad either. ;)
