Cheese curds, roasted corn, lefse, judging for the baking competition, Famous Daves, fried pickles, tiny fish on a stick, chocolate chip cookies, some of the animal showcase, Texas Steakout, mini donuts, cinnamon buns. It wasn't about gross foods like his show normally is, he was celebrating the awesomeness of the fair.

Meat raffle -- sounds awesome!

It's the only one I've ever experienced. I was so frightened because it was so foreign and unreal.

For the Fair, you also have sweet corn ice cream, chocolate covered bacon, the breakfast Jucy Lucy (cheese inside a sausage patty, toast instead of a bun), the Uber Bucket-o-Fries (largest is 64oz), poutine, porketta wings, all you can drink milk, alligator bratwurst...the list goes on.

And that was the first meat raffle I ever have participated in, although I am familiar with them. Basically, it's like a lottery, but you win meat. It's a big thing in rural areas and at VFWs, etc.

My goal is to make it back for the Fair this year. We'll see if that happens...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

So yeah, I'm at the *FT. Totally disappointing. Neither team played well, but Denver definitely wanted it more. Walking to the stadium, saw vendors selling tshirts that said **** the Patriots, Tuckmaster Tom, Brady Sucks Belichick Swallows, etc. I've totally seen similar shirts in Boston. Pointing it out that fans of all teams are jerks. Guy two rows in front of me had his face painted, and a hat that was a deflated football and one of the Brady Sucks Belichick Swallows tshirts that he made a point to show me several times during pre-game. Guy behind me says "Did you have a wardrobe malfunction?" when he saw my shirt. I said "No, it was a calculated decision." Heh.

Anyway.... Work tomorrow. Blah.

Seems curious - and dangerous - that you see these shirts in Boston. ;)

Got to Seattle just in time for the Nisqually quake in 2001. It was a 6.7. Scared the **** out of me. I also was in Salt Lake City when a tornado hit downtown - the only time that has happened. I have written letters to the mayors offering to never come back if they pay me enough money - no response yet. :D

Morning.

Despite Scarlet believing she's the reason, Tom Brady did not blame her in the post game interview for their loss.

Had my 3rd interview on Friday with this company. It was for a 2nd job they thought I would be an even better fit for. I'm just ready for them to make an actual decision one way or the other.

Good Morning Lodge.

In the office today, still not great but soooo much better than I have been, hopefully past the worst of it and back to full time employment.

In other news, found out my cousin died last Thursday, he was 78. He was the oldest surviving relative as all the parents, aunts and uncles are gone. A little miffed that we got the news via a somewhat cryptic facebook post by his brother. Expected his daughters to light up the phone lines with news, I expected his wife to be devastated. Services this Saturday so will likely miss the North Star Challenge Cup. Also amazed at the brevity of his obit given his long involvement in various organizations, including civic and fraternal.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

My condolences, goldy. I've been losing cousins for a few years now, but I didn't know most of them. My oldest living cousin's right about that age, which is a few months older than my only remaining aunt. (That's what happens with the Big Catholic Family.)

So it appears I need a refill. I thought it was just SCSU fans that gave me unsigned negative rep, it looks like some stinkin BADger fans do it too after I point out what cheap shot hacks they have on their squad.

Gopher fans get touchy, too. I took some dings after making the Sandusky joke about Lucia's line "I just want to be around the boys..." in the Strib article.

I have a sore muscle in my a**. Somehow I must have hurt it during hockey Saturday night, but I couldn't tell you what happened to cause it. I just know that I have a pain in my a**.
