Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

Good morning Lodge.

Long time no post for me. Life is fricken busy. Good but busy.

The g family is ready for Xmas. We keep it really simple regarding gifts and such. We will be ringing bells for Salvation Army later today. Earlier this week we purchased some random items and some plants/flowers (15 total) and we randomly knocked on doors at a couple old folks homes and passed them out.

Later today we will be baking cookies and other goodies.

Regarding the inlaws........Mil is up there in years and it's getting difficult for her to prepare everything for an Xmas get together. Mil asked if we would be ok hosting to which we gladly accepted. So.......this will be Mrs g and her brother and her parents first Xmas not spent in their home. I have a funny feeling shiat will hit the fan somehow. I. Can't. Wait.

On the 26th we will head up north and the plan is to hang out with my family. Fishing, cribbage, another Xmas, beverages, Star Wars, food, family, New Years party, bon fire, pond hockey are just a few things on our agenda.

Edit. The g family had a blast at the vikings game( even though Seattle kicked their azz). We got on the field before the game. We ended up on the Seattle side but their players were really approachable and very willing to talk, high five and take pics. We had a suite and it was awesome to say the least.

I am kind of split on this. He could have talked to me on Mon morn (I start 30 minutes before everyone else, who are in a different building; I only have 1 other person in the morning at my building). But, this was a big enough event to warrant a quick phone call, given the level of person leaving.

When I have a day off of work, I want a day off of ALL work-related things. Hence, it being a day.

Maybe he was calling to see if you might be inclined to show interest in the potential opening............

I was thinking along those lines. Brent's not gonna be young forever and that job takes it's toll on your body. Gotta think about the future. (Or plan to die young.)

I have NO interest in that position. I used to, when I first started. The changes they have made, and the hours required that go along with it...nope. I am perfectly happy with the position I have right now. For all intents and purposes and everyday dealings, I'm my own boss. How great is that? :)

Great, except for the fact that guy is an a-hole. :D

My manager can tell I'm not truly happy in the call center. (very few are, obviously) Now that I've been there a year I can apply out to other departments, and he's going to give me a hand by setting up step ins in those departments.

I'm pumped. The other operations departments love to hire call center people if they can, as the experienced ones often know more about the products than they do, and they work their tail off because they're so happy to not be on the phone all day.:)

Time for a raise and an extra week of vacation! ;)

I already have too much vacation, but I'm not complaining. 5+ weeks right now, and that will continue to grow the longer I stay there. I *think* it caps out at 7 weeks, but am not sure. And yeah, my "boss" is a total a-hole. Opinionated, boorish, and a loudmouth. ;)

And awesome to hear, soh!

Good Morning, Lodge!

Changes are coming at work. The hammer hasn't fallen...yet. That is a rant in of itself. Long story short: current boss wants new boss to do it. New boss says that current boss should do it.

Then I find out that I am going to be the new social media person for the flagship stores. Thanks corporate for saying it before telling me. That is why some of you are surprised that I caved and got a FB page. Don't expect any posts from me. I only got it so I can monitor our stores and start generating ideas for when I take the position.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

Sometimes my brother annoys the everloving sh*t out of me. He's been saying since my parents moved that they should get a bigger TV. I was like "they don't really need it but whatever." Finally I said "will you go buy it?" Because I'm usually the person who has to go get these gifts. He said he would. He texts me this afternoon to say he bought it and how much I owe. Fine. Then he asks if I can bring it to his house tomorrow.

I'm going up there because his daughter had a fundraiser for her dance team and my SIL kept hounding me about an order. I placed a decent sized one but naturally the delivery was late and I couldn't use one of the items for a gift yesterday. They should be making the effort to get the items to me, not have me drive all the way up there.

I'm not bringing the check till Christmas. I don't get paid till Thursday and honestly, I've had to wait more than once for payment from them for other gifts. /end rant

Another batch of caramels cut, wrapped, and ready to be shipped. Sugar cookies are baked and frosted. Hubby "quality controlled" the cookies and approves. Pecan pie is out of the oven and cooling off. We shall see how that turns out as it is the first pie that I have ever made. I plan on making another batch of caramels and the pumpkin cookies tonight. Whew.

This has been quite the year for Xmas treats. At work I have probably received close to 30 items from either clients or various businesses. Plates of cookies, tins of various goodies, meat and cheese trays. All sorts of stuff. My favorite so far was a tin of chocolate covered potato chips. That and the assortment of jerky.

The worst thing I have received? One of my favorite clients dropped off a plate of oatmeal raisin cookies in jest.

Today we made a boat load of sugar cookies with the frosting and then the peanut butter cookies with Hershey kisses on them.

Wild game on tap tonight and then I might have to check the cabinet to mix myself a tasty beverage.

I had these at a candy shop with BPH when I was in St. Paul - they were delicious. I haven't seen/had them since.
