Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: 17th Edition: Summer Isn't Just A Stripper's Name

BTW, did get it confirmed that my car with which I hit the deer is a total loss per State Farm.

A 2014 with 10,480 miles totaled by hitting a 120 lb doe. It was the dam airbags. Didn't really need them to protect us given the deer was so light compared to the car, but the cost of replacing them, and repairing what they did to the dash and roof liner kicks the cost up to great than 70% of the car value. My neighbor hit one with his old Jeep at similar speed and he had to buy a used blinker cover at a junk yard for $5.95.

I am not looking forward to car shopping AGAIN.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: 17th Edition: Summer Isn't Just A Stripper's Name

Morning.

So i've inquired with a genealogy researcher based in the Czech Republic about helping me find records that aren't digitally available for my father's side of the family.

Thankfully his company is about a fourth of the cost of a US research company.
Cool!

Old school reasoning would be that a $0.50 bullet would be the cure. Can't do it.

Surgery is on hold for now. Cautiously optimistic that they can medically stabilize him and then hope that the antibiotics kick in and do their job.
:( what happened?

F an a.

After vet visit and receiving crushing news we were given a couple options. We then rushed to cityslickerville. Pup is being evaluated and we are waiting for options. More than likely surgery sooner (within next couple hours) rather than later.

F an a.

No good at all. Best of luck. My brother went through something big issue with his dog when she was still a pup. Thankfully, she ended up recovering.

How did the deer come out?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: 17th Edition: Summer Isn't Just A Stripper's Name

So you were besieged by Wisconsin boys shortly after reporting the incident, then.

The carcass was still in the ditch the next morning when we left town. I was surprised cause the Wolf Center picks up road kill to feed the wolves. But there a lot of dead deer around up there and this, at 12 miles out, might have been too far to bother with.

I avoided hitting a fawn yesterday afternoon. But I was only doing 35 mph.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: 17th Edition: Summer Isn't Just A Stripper's Name

So........pups health started deteiorating Sunday morning. Lethargic and sleepy. Got to the point where he couldn't walk. One step and would tip over. Monday morning vet diagnosed tonsillitis and bladder infection. Gave antibiotics. Tuesday nothing changed. Yesterday afternoon took pup to vet. X-ray showed three metal objects in stomach. Vet advised he was septic and informed us that objects had more than likely pierced intestines. Vet could not perform surgery and referred us to cityslickerville for emergency surgery unless infection was beyond repairable. Long story short no surgery and vet monitored. Metal objects ended up being red herring. Pup has HOD. Still not out of woods as this can still end up being a really really bad thing.

I spoke to the vet back home and due to their mis diagnosis they are picking up the tab through this morning.

I had planned on signing the pup up for insurance last Friday but out it off.

Google HOD Puppy. HOD is the abbreviated form.

I don't understand why you didn't type the whole name out. ;)

If it does not resolve, can you go back at the breeder at all?

No. This isn't something that is the breeders fault. This dog was fairly expensive and before I picked a the breed and a breeder I did a ton of research. I spoke to quite a few breeders and when I picked the breeder I spoke to about a dozen people who purchased pups from this breeder. additionally, I have medical records of the parents and grandparents. This is rare. HOD occurs more so in large breeds but this is not something the breeder would have known about. Comes down to luck of the draw.

I will inform the breeder as they will want to know.

Serious bummer. Googled it. What an odd disease.

If you want a chuckle, and a challenge, try to find the hotel I'm staying in one of the nights in Colombia. Its called Posada del Rey, in Tesalia, Colombia.
