Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

So funny you guys are having this conversation. When I upgraded to my iPhone 6, I also upgraded my data plan. I had a measly 200mb with my iPhone 4. Never went over, as I had a work phone that I could use. I figured oh wow, now I have 1gb, that's awesome. My mom is on my plan but she has no apps and doesn't use the Internet etc. My billing cycle ends on the 25th. On the 10th I get a text saying I'm at 75% of my 1gb. I stop using it and use my work phone for the most part, and only use my phone if wireless is available. Saturday the 18th I get a text that now I'm at 90%. I put my phone on airplane mode. Tuesday the 21st I get a text saying I'm at 100% and they're charging me another $20 for an additional 500mb. I chose not to argue or complain and thought ok, for three days I have a bunch more data. I'm at the Red Sox game on Friday, just a few days afte, and I get another text telling me I've used 75% of the additional 500mb. IN THREE DAYS! Jeez. I went to the AT&T store to see what it was that was draining my phone. I need to learn to shut down my apps after I use them because they drain my data even when I'm not using them. Ugh.

Some of our group had a few battery issues due to forgetting to shut down the GPS/location-finder apps this weekend. Reception is obviously REALLY spotty, if it exists at all (and some spots, you get the Canadian cell service), so usually it wasn't a problem. You'd check the route, then shut 'er down, to conserve your battery.

Last year when I was put on a managed plan I was informed that while I had unlimited data I used just over 2gb a month. I went on a 4gb plan and for the first time I managed my usage. In the first two weeks I used nearly 3gb. Before on unlimited data I used just over 2gb and in my opinion my usage should have been well under what was being tracked. Even though my usage was getting less and less my data being used kept increasing. I spent almost 5 hours on the phone with Verizon customer service over the course if a couple days to try and figure it out. At one point I turned off my cell service and for 24 hours my phone was totally shut down. During that time I used nealy a gb. I was on pace to use 20gb and my activity was nearly null. Verizon's upped my data to 6gb and I was informed to use a bunch of data so they could try and track the issue. From then until now I use more data than I ever have and I barely use 1gb a month. Doesn't make sense. Something is not right. I stream about 2 hours of music a day. A couple weeks ago I streamed a movie. I have never nor has Verizon called to follow up on the issue. In short, I pretty much have unlimited data. :)

I think Scarlet is stalking me and Mr les. So far a baby at the gate, a baby on the plane, a baby in hotel lobby when we arrived, baby that night at dinner, baby-toddler- on the bus again this AM (old lady on the bus near on strangled the parents, telling them they had an ill mannered child- she was right), baby at lunch and baby in a cave tour. All babies are, you guessed it!!, crying. Just another way to remind us we are blessed not to have a baby right now! By now I have explained babies and Scarlet to Mr les and he smirks every time a kid cries.

Every time Scarlet flies a baby starts to cry? /It'sAWonderfulLife

Quite a few years ago I had unlimited data with a local cell company. Verizon bought them out and I lost unlimited data. Class action lawsuit and I was given back my unlimited data plus a check for $750. Early last year Verizon called me and stated that as long as I kept my phone (iPhone 4) I could keep unlimited data but as soon as I swiched phones I would lose it. I said "f u" and moved along. Very next day my vowels quit working on my iPhone keyboard. Couldn't be fixed so I bought a iPhone 5. Coincidence? S o b's.

As long as I opt to buy the phone outright (pay full price, without 2 year contract pricing), I keep my unlimited data.

Good Morning Lodge.

Raining cats and dogs here. Morons on the freeways who think hydroplaning can't effect them. I don't care if you're driving a 4x4 PU, when those tires start to float you're going wherever momentum takes you.

So where are les and Mr les vacationing?

Sounds like the heat and humidity will finally break after this front passes. It has been so miserable that you can't even be outside for the last week, since I got home from South America. I'm so ready for winter.

At home, getting to avoid the mess on the roads. Have to be at the airport by 9:50.

JFC it's SUCH a Tuesday. Had a plumbing issue. Then, based on my post from last night about data, I put my phone in airplane mode to see if that would also help with data usage. This morning when I got up I took it off airplane mode and waited for it to join my wireless. It didn't. I had to select my own router, which the phone is supposed to join automatically, and then had to put in my password. It never accepted it. Didn't say I typed it in incorrectly, I just had that little box to type it in come up over and over. I turned the phone on and off to see if that would work. Nope. Grrrr. Then I got in my car to drive to work as I have Red Sox tickets tonight and the traffic was ridiculous!!! I'm sure the day can get worse.....because it's Tuesday. Oh, it's supposed to thunderstorm about the time I'm heading to the game. I have no one to go with, but I want to go because they're retiring Pedro's number. Stay tuned.....I'm sure more fun and games will occur.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

with regards to the rain this morning, I'm listening to the radio and the DJ/host states, "Thunderstorms will begin around nine o'clock this morning." Just as he finished that statement, thunder pounds my house, this was around 6:45. Um, DJ man, you might want to revise that official report you have there. As a result, I left ten minutes earlier than normal, arrived 30 minutes later than normal. Happy Tuesday.

So we leave for Maui 3 weeks from today. I've set a goal of being 8 pounds lighter by then and in better shape so I can do some hiking, snorkeling, fishing, etc. without collapsing. I've been walking with some regularity and started swimming the other night, now cutting out sweets. I figure having a few less pounds to carry will help my artificial ankle and bum knee. Also won't be so embarrassing to the family when I'm in a swim suit.
