Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #176 -- it's Mookie's world, we are just living in it

Well, I've seen them mentioned on message boards, facebook, etc. So "never heard of them" is an exaggeration. More accurately, I should have said, "I have never heard one of their songs, and if I have, I had no clue that it was Rush". I couldn't even tell you what kind of music they play...other than it is not Country, because then I'd know them.

Bob and Doug McKenzie with Geddy Lee of Rush - Great White North. You might recognize the high pitch voice from GPL tailgate music or something, which is Geddy Lee's voice. Bob and Doug also contribute, those hose heads.

Kid that we know (played hockey with Jr at one time) ran into Alex Lifeson of Rush at Hazeltine National yesterday. His dad put the picture of them together up on FB.

Well yes, they are basically the original rock band geared specifically for nerds. :p

YES would like to have (Time and) a word (:D:rolleyes:) with you...

Been to see both Yes and Rush as they were favs growing up. Mostly dudes at their shows and my wife hates them both btw.

How the heck anyone of a certain age and older doesn't know the song Tom Sawyer is beyond me.

Mr. is a huge fan of Rush. Yes, he is classically trained musician, but he grew up listening to them as his dad is a huge prog fan.

If any of you have seen "I Love You, Man", when the girlfriend is standing there at the concert and the boys are singing and dancing, that will be me. My BIL is coming with us and you cannot get the hubby and him apart. I know I will have a fun time as I do enjoy Rush myself. Not to the level of Mr.

Fly to as close as airlines get then rent a car and drive?

ETA: after looking at a map, fly to GF, rent car, get on 2 west till you hit Leeds. How hard is that?:p

Out of curiosity, I looked up a trip via Amtrak from MSP to Greenville, NC, since next year we have to go down there for my wife's (and pb's) cousin's wedding. Holy ****. What a joke. Why is Amtrak still around? I picked a random Friday to depart, the first thing it says is "you can't depart until Sunday". Ok.... Then the route it gives me takes me from MSP across North Dakota, Montana and Idaho to Portland, Oregon. Then I'd have to change trains and go from there down through San Francisco to Los Angeles. Change trains. From there across Arizona, New Mexico, Texas....all the way to Atlanta, or somewhere around there (I'd given up care by that point), and eventually to Greenville. Total cost, almost $600. We would arrive 8 days after after my original date of departure. Its time to pull the plug on this bull****.

Oh, and I could fly there, with 1 layover, 3 hour trip total....$443

Has the steam engine locomotive reached those parts yet?

How to get to Leeds: follow the smell of sh*. Stop when you actually hit the sh*.

Heck, the roads might even be paved there.
