The first time I saw Mamma Mia was September 19, 2001. It was the second or third show back after September 11th. You could really tell it was kind of a release for the entire audience to let go and have fun, you know? It was like everyone there needed it. It's one of the reasons I truly love that show.

Here at the airport for my trek home. Have to fly thru Dallas. There's a Dunkin Donuts here - yay! But it's before security- boo.

I'm sure there's some way to convince me to go to a musical like that, but at this point, I can't think of a single one.

I think you'd like Wicked.

Well, I'm ok with never knowing if I would or not. :p

I saw Book of Mormon, and I think that's my line. If its made by the South Park guys and making fun of a stupid religion, I'm in.

Book of Mormon was hysterical. Spamalot was also great, especially if you are a Monty Python fan.

Got thru security and got a text from my boss to call her. Never a good sign. She chewed me out for something. Not really unwarranted but it drives me nuts when people get freaked and instead of reaching out to me, they go to my boss. Or rather have their boss go to my boss. I feel like crap right now.

Avenue Q?

Take the wife/girlfriend; you might enjoy it a little more. :p

Understandable.

There are certainly types of entertainment/performances that you couldn't drag me to.

I would be much more likely to go to a play than a musical. Musicals do NOTHING for me. I don't like the music...so that kind of ruins it. Book of Mormon worked because they were ripping on Mormons.

Wicked was great.

Probably the best Broadway show I've seen.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #176 -- it's Mookie's world, we are just living in it

I liked it too, but both times I saw it I knew a cast member. I just could see bb hating it.

I don't doubt that.

Iirc, you mentioned at the time that you knew a cast member of the production I saw here.

Yup. She was a "swing" so she could have been playing several minor roles, including a flying monkey. Since she both sang and danced, she had the biggest costume wardrobe in the company.

You should see Avenue Q. I've found that Book of Mormon and Avenue Q are great shows to take guys to who "don't like musicals".

They were both done by the same person, Robert Lopez. Lopez actually thanked Trey and Matt for inspiration in the playbill of Avenue Q, and that's where the collaboration started on The Book of Mormon.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #176 -- it's Mookie's world, we are just living in it

I was quite underwhelmed by Wicked; in fact, it is probably the most overrated show I've ever sat through. Avenue Q is great. Stage adaptation of the Lion King was great. Stage adaptation of The Producers was great. Cats is basically a poorly-done art movie on stage, so it's a polarizing show (I am not a fan).

Never saw Book of Mormon. My parents did, and they did not find it very funny, however from what I've heard it's extremely lowbrow and aimed squarely at the 20/30-something crowd, so that probably explains their opinion.

So, I will be at game 7 tonight. Waking up at 0345 tomorrow to get picked up at 0430 to fly back to work though.
