Good Morning Lodge.

edit- went searching. Why were you in the ER? You can't just post things like that and leave it hanging!

Hey Almsy, you are not in Madtown anymore. A birthday doesn't require such shenanigans when you are a married adult. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

The last business dinner I had (this was a few years ago) it was on the expense account for the leader of our group (people were picked from around the country to help convert buildings to a paperless system; I was the only one without the title "Systems Management Expert," which was odd). The 8-9 of us had a round, were about to switch to N/A drinks, to be polite, and he flat out said: You all better have a couple more rounds. I have a 6-figure account. This is peanuts." This was also at Ruth's Chris and all of us were drinking top-shelf.

I fear what that bill was.
The worst damage I've ever been involved in was $1200....in Houghton. So, yeah. That makes it a bit more of a challenge than being in a major metropolitan area. :p
Was also a part of an $800 tab in Green Bay, for 5 people.
Most I've ever charged myself was about $400.

Good Morning, Lodge!

I had a horrible day yesterday. I felt like I couldn't do anything correctly, whether it was management or myself. There was a shipment that the was delayed and I got blamed for it, but I had everything in line. It was the shipper who delayed the shipment, but I still get blamed. At least my co-worker went to bat for me and said it was not my fault and showed the documents to prove it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

That's impressive. My tops is $350, and that included two rounds on me.

I should have explained better, I didn't spend it all myself, it was a group 6 or 7 of us, and I picked up the whole tab, so it wasn't as much per person.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

A candy store opened in my companies building. They sell those cigarette candies we used to get as kids. I haven't seen those in over a decade at least.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

My kid found those in a candy store in LaCrosse this summer. I would have guessed that they weren't even manufactured anymore.

Speaking of the kid... final tryout for a fall U-16 select team tonight at which he's in the running for the A team. Needs to beat out 4 other kids.

This would be a big accomplishment for a kid that's had to scratch and claw his way to this level for 10 years. He's never made an "A" team of this stature - meaning a regional team as opposed to a club team.

If he doesn't make it, he'd be on the B team. Heard though from an insider that he's impressed the evaluation panel thus far. We'll see.

I'm nervous. He's at home "chillin'."

Good luck to Gurt Jr.

Goldy Jr is just going to play Showcase (pay to play) this fall. Team he played with in spring isn't playing in fall but we found some kids he played AAA summer with a couple summers ago. So he'll be playing with a bunch of Eden Prairie kids again (the enemy for Edina kids). He got along fine with them in the summer though. Then Captains' practice starts in a couple more weeks, just 2 afternoons a week.

Thanks.

We are also teamed up with kids from the enemies from seasons past and present. Gotten to know many of the parents and we're chummy now, so it's fun. Even coached with some of them on spring teams.

The boys all get along and are social off the ice and it's nice to see them in the handshake line after a high school game (where they're "enemies") showing each other respect and hugs.

I think it's great that kids mix around as they build some sense of community within hockey and it really is a small world within hockey. You will run into these people in rinks for the rest of your life.

This is pay-to-play in a sense too. Gonna set me back $600 plus travel and we go all over the state... Eau Claire, LaCrosse, Green Bay...

Looking forward to it though as the teammates are quality as is the competition - can't say that for all JV high school games and teammates. It's a step below Team Wisconsin and is a league of regional teams from around the state - administered by the Team Wisconsin organization.

And what was interesting?

Said I was at the ER, not that I was in the ER.

Wifey needed stitches, cut herself while cleaning up the kitchen just before bed.

Excellent. Not bedtime until the chores are complete.

There is no qualification for Showcase other than the check don't bounce and the age is right. Supposed to be a Varsity league but it's a mix of Varsity, JV and Jr. Gold kids. Jr was towards the lower end of the spectrum in spring but did OK. Not sure how he'll look in the fall, he's really gotten strong and I'm curious if he can use his strength. Showcase league will be around the metro, mostly west side rinks, mostly weekend games.

Good to get him on the ice. We've done that sort of thing over the years too.

Is he trying out for the high school team again this year?

He is but I think he is planning on Jr Gold. If they do what they talked about last year they will have Jr Gold through the school almost like a B team but not in State high school league.

Getting to play is getting to play. Even better that it's actually through the school.

Kids here who for whatever reason(s) don't play for their high school play midget with a club. Becomes a co-op team and isn't ideal.

Can he tryout for hs team and still join Jr Gold if he gets cut?

It's gotten to the point with tryouts that I joke that we're going and at least making them tell us "NO!"

That's starting to turn now and maybe we get over the hump tonight. Been told "no" so many times...
