Morning Lodge.

Just put a pork shoulder in the smoker. Using apple wood this time. Going for the long slow one this time, maybe 9 hours. Need to come up with a mop for it soon.

So the incredibly inconsiderate neighbors who basically use their home as a second headquarters for their construction company with trucks and trailers parked all over just got back from a camping trip. Lots of roaring motors, clanging trailer gates, shouting etc. All before 8 AM on a Sunday. I was up and Jr was already gone to an open hockey session, but others might want to sleep in, can't imagine it was possible with that racket.

Are you sure you don't live next to me? The guy next to me snow blows or mows at 11:00 at night, 5:30 AM, (he is not working, he just does it then) used to have a rink b/w our houses where his kid would shoot pucks against a piece of plywood until past 11 at night. Bang....bang...bang... We live on a hill so sound carries. The whole neighbor hood just loves him to death...

Doesn't that violate the "no contact" period in the MSHSL? Should I report you?;)

Where did you go in? I'm planning a trip for Jr and me for next June (assuming my ankle recovers adequately by then).
Haha we just can't have weight room or on ice contact, 'ol man!

We go in through Canoe Country Outfitters in Ely, and then in through Moose Lake. Any idea what you were thinking?
Beautiful, ain't it?
It really is awesome. Great fishing, loons swimming stones throw away all the time, etc. We had a loon fly straight at out canoe and just over it. Also saw a few bald eagles, one that just dropped a fish right next to us on a rock as swooped around us.. It really is cool.

I'm surprised they'd allow that in your gated community...

Howdy Lodge. Lovely day here. Spent it with my folks. Went back up to Nashua NH to see about buying them a laptop. My mom decided to not get one and keep their desktop. After getting a few more things, we went to their new apartment complex to check out the new space just to figure out where everything might go when the moving trucks come Friday. We got into an empty unit, which was helpful.

When I dropped them off I picked up all my mom's wedding dishes, which she said I could have (I have a china closet). My dad and my brother's friend, who is their realtor, are on their way over to my place now with a big mirror which will go up in my wall in my living room. I need to find someone to help put it up, and a few other big pictures that I haven't put up in the 9 years I've lived here. I have two big posters of each of the BU national championship teams that I want to hang up. I also have the 2009 championship tshirt I got signed by the entire team that night that I want to frame with the tickets from each of the games, which I have signed by the players who scored the game winning goals in each.

Had a combo b-day celebration with the family today (me, bro, mom all have summer b-days). We combo it due to busy schedules; it's easier that way. Had a good time, bro is settling into his new house quite nicely. I had RAK'd (Random Act Of Kindness) him a shirt from a mutually favorite website, and it happened to arrive yesterday on his birthday, so yay timing! It was a FTWGA shirt (For Those Who Gave All; proceeds go to Special Operation Wounded Warriors).

I plow snow early in the morning and late at night, just like everyone in my neighborhood. Seems like a given to me. If you need to plow before work, and you leave for work at 6:45, sorry, not much choice there.

I think I'm going to smoke something next weekend. Not sure what yet, pork butt, sausages, or baby backs are at the top of the list. The brisket is almost gone, so I need something new!

Spent most of the day yesterday cleaning out the crawlspace. Pulled all of the stuff stored under there out, collected all of the garbage (mice nests) out of it, pulled out some jerry-rigged duct system that didn't do anything, shop-vaced everything out and scrubbed it down with bleach/water. Then I put some moth balls in areas that the mice were coming in. It actually smells clean now. And we put a whole bunch of stuff under there. In our house we have little to no storage space, so that crawl space needs to be used, and now it is ready to be used. Tonight we want to rearrange our bedrooms. We are going to put both twin beds from the spare bedrooms in one room, and turn the other room into an office, with a futon, so it can be used for a spare bedroom when needed.

Only two full weeks of summer remain before I start teacher workshops...enjoying every minute of summer vacation. I should finish a Storm of Dragons this week...great book.

Good afternoon Lodge.

Checking in from St. Charles mn. Whitewater state park is awesome. Incredible hiking and the best part? No bugs. And by no bugs I mean zero. Haven't had to use the 9mm on any rattlers either. The only downside? No cell service. By no cell service I mean zippo. I don't mind having no service but it's nice to be able to check on the weather as I left the am radio at home because who uses transistor radios anymore?????
