Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

So yeah, the day kind of sucked. Left regular time, which is early for me. Got to the T station. People were standing 11-deep on the platform. Wha...??? So,I did what I've sometimes done in the morning, go the opposite direction to get on the train before my stop. What happens? Disabled train a few stops ahead. Sigh. Finally got there, got on a northbound train and got a seat - hooray. But the ride was ridiculously long. Got home an hour and 15 minutes after I left work, normally takes about 40 minutes.

I was nominated to do that ice bucket challenge thing. I figured if there were people down by the pool I would ask someone to record me, because there is ALWAYS people there. Except tonight of course. So I did a selfie video about me writing a check. Then I couldn't get it onto YouTube, almost burnt my dinner while trying to figure it out.

In the middle of this I'm on Twitter and my brother out in LA texts me about Robin Williams. Crazy!

I brought my laptop home so I can start my mid-year review - I'm meeting my manager Wednesday. By the time I sat down after all this it was close to 9pm. So I'm not doing that. Oh, and what happens at 8:55? Yeah, people at the pool. And guess what they were doing? The ice bucket challenge. I went out on my balcony to say "Oh sure NOW someone is down there! Where were you three hours ago??" Heh.

Good Morning Lodge.

Sure Scarlet, likely story - you just didn't want to dump a bucket of ice water on your head and ruin your hairdo! ;)

Good Morning, Lodge!

The probability that today is going to suck is really high. Customer Service shows up at 10 after 8 and there are calls on hold. Last I checked, the office opens up at 8 am. Then the sales and marking person is going to constantly ask me questions that with the amount of time wasted on speaking, she would already have the answer.

Got challenged for the ice bucket thing. Did it. After spending all day with lil driving me around doing errands for school it was refreshing. His car has the heat stuck on. I was on the sunny side.

Those things make no sense to me. If someone wants to donate to charity (person or corp.) They should just do it.

S'upp y'all

Yeah right. I'm sure you saw it. My hair was a disaster, like the rest of me. It might have actually been a good thing to douse myself in water.

I am in the worst mood right now and it's not even 9am.

You dump ice water over yourself and upload the video to youtube. Because that will cure ALS.

I'm with JF. If you want to donate money to a cause, just do it.
Oh, that just sounds stupid. I donate plenty of money, every paycheck some comes out.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

The idea behind it isn't that it will cure ALS, but that it will raise awareness for it and get others who may not have thought about donating to do so. What are you going to remember more, a simple "Donate to this cause!"...or a bunch of people dumping a bucket of ice water over their heads? It's marketing.

Morning. Up early so I can shower before our water gets shut off for 8 hours.

And, it also seems to be working, as the ALS foundation has seen a massive increase in donations compared to the same time period last year. I believe last I saw was something like 1.3 Million since July 29, compared to just 22k for the time period last year.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, y'all. I'm getting almost as gray as Mark! ;)

The Special Olympics in MN has every jump into a lake in the middle of winter for its fundraising. It turns out, MN lakes are very cold during the winter, even colder than I anticipated. Of course, in order to make the jump, you must raise a minimum of $75.

Actually, it's a brilliant idea and as cited above, it's working.
