Evening/Morning. Getting a new couch (about time...had this one for 35 years), so got to spend tonight changing the living room set up to what it will probably be. Get to spend tomorrow making sure the TV, cable, DVD/VCR (yep, still have one), stereo, and record player (yep, still have one) get set up right so they work.

Yeah, we have one of those too. A buddy of mine and I have started planting false stories with her just to see how long it takes to come back around to either of us. She has amazing velocity, let's just say that.

Oh that's brilliant. Why would anyone be such a gossiper like that?

With all the cackling going on in my office, I'm about to go get a bucket of water and melt somebody.

Oy, this day just got a lot more interesting. Remember the company I thought I was getting an offer from back in March, only to have all communication abruptly cutoff while waiting to meet the Denver team? Well, I got an email from the recruiter this morning, asking if I was still interested. With regard to the original circumstances, he claims, "We thought we were going to win some work a few months back but it didn’t materialize." However, now business is getting to a point where they need to hire more people.

There are a few directions I could go with this, but I think the correct option is to politely decline. The whole situation is just not passing the smell test.

Run with it. Don't show up for the interview. Send selfie of you with the middle finger. No not really.

Check into it but be really really cautious as IMHO they proved by past actions that they really don't five a f about their employees as they treated a potential employee like shiat.

They would have to really wow me after just cutting off communications without explanation. Usually when they're looking for new employees there's a bit of wooing that goes on once they get beyond the preliminary interviews. If that was how they acted during the wooing period, I'd be very leery.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I had nothing but positive vibes from the three people I interviewed with in Boston, and they were honest about giving me both the positives and negatives of the position. However, their team is tiny in comparison to the size of the company, and obviously the HR department left a very bad taste in my mouth.

I'm going to talk with the recruiter later this week, and we'll see what the deal is. However, after a raise in May (with another on the table by the end of the year), and having just moved to a different suburb about a month ago, it will take a mega offer to get me to go through the process of moving out of state right now. Also, even though it is my life, the odds of my family liking the idea of me taking any sort of out of state/heavy-travel/high-stress job at the moment are mixed at best, and I can't say that I would disagree with their concerns.

This. Interviews are times for both the potential employee and the company to make their best impressions. If you're still interested despite that experience, look into it. Just keep in mind during your decision making process how you were treated regarding interviewing and what that may mean for how you'd be treated as an employee.

There are alot of people moving around in my group and groups I work with. Some positions are opening up, and I'm planning on looking into them. It mostly depends on if the position(s) I'm interested in can be located in Minneapolis...

don't let them think you are not interested until they have the chance to wow you with an offer.

Scarlet F*ing Tuesday.

4 of our other buildings around the network were down for most of the day, so lots of business was sent our way. We carried over about 2 hours of work for tomorrow, which means an early start. I already have 20 hours this week, and was told it will probably get worse as the week goes on. The ONLY good thing today was that I didn't have to go to the main building to help finish. Why? They were probably done the same time I was, at the offsite. Right now they can't afford to send someone over to help out, and the other guy who kind of splits his time between doing returns and helping at the offsite is out until at least next Monday due to some pinched nerve in his leg; he's currently using a walker to get around. Ugh.
