Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Finally got a deck box that wasn't busted up. Decided to just return the one we had, and re-evaluate. Decided to go with a smaller version, that was made by Rubbermade, because **** if they can bust up something made by Rubbermade. The box didn't have a price on it, so we asked one of the workers about it, she pulled it off the top shelf and just let the thing fall to the floor. No wonder they are breaking things! Luckily, this was Rubbermade, so it is pretty much bulletproof. Turned out that it was on sale, so it was actually cheaper than the other one, and it doubles as a bench, so we have extra seating too. Got it put together, and it looks like it will work out well.

We also picked up a bunch of stuff that was on our registry, that we didn't get. We had a ton of cash/checks/gift cards, so we had plenty of money to do this. We only got half of the flatware we asked for, so we went to Macy's and filled that out. Got some containers for storing flour/sugar/pasta/etc in, that my wife wanted. I got the smoker that I wanted from Menards, and picked up a brisket to smoke next weekend.

Then we decided that we didn't have nearly enough storage space in our kitchen, with all of the new stuff we got, even after cleaning out a bunch of the old stuff. So we went to a bunch of furniture stores, and finally found something we wanted. Picked up a buffet/kitchen island to put between our kitchen and dining room, it has a little more storage space, but also more counter-top space, and more drawers. Then we also got a wooden chest/box to keep our wedding keepsakes in.

We ended up with a pile of cardboard that took up the entire dining room, so I decided I had no option but to burn it. Wife seemed to think that it is illegal to burn garbage, but I'm a farm kid, and we burned everything that burned. So **** the state and their asinine laws. If I want to burn garbage, I will burn my garbage.

The Aspergers chick just casually 'outed' another one of our developers without so much as a thought. I honestly don't care, but I'm not sure he wanted anyone else in the office to know.

This office is just crazy sometimes.

Does she seriously have Asperger's or is that just something people would say (like me) about a coworker who routinely doesn't seem to realize when they do things like that?

Good afternoon Lodge.

I had a tough time waking up this morning. I should have taken the day off. Staying up late and drinking lots of booze is not as easy to do as it used to be............

It's like playing hockey, you just need more practice.

I'm pretty sure she's legit. I'm hardly an MD, but she has mentioned it herself, and she does exhibit a lot of the classic personality traits. She talks in long-winded, one-sided bursts that bounce from one topic to the next for no reason at all, and she'll share every little detail she knows. She is often oblivious to what she is saying, and to other people's emotions.

I'm not kidding when I say this, but that sounds like a great time to be had by all! (Just so long as it's not keeping me from getting my work completed and you have other coworkers who are willing to have some fun with things.) Granted, it would suck for the formerly closeted gay guy in the office, so you'd have to be careful with what's said around her.

For those "marathon" sessions, and honestly even just going out for a couple beers, I take note of the ABV of the beer. Kinda have to nowadays, given the beers that I, and the crowd I run with, drink.

That's the last time I hope any coworker confides in her.

We have one of those at work, but she's just a gossiper. I am very careful as to what I say around her.

Yeah, we have one of those too. A buddy of mine and I have started planting false stories with her just to see how long it takes to come back around to either of us. She has amazing velocity, let's just say that.

I've sorta done that. I will make a comment to someone, and see if it makes the rounds. There is backstory: many of us used to go out for a "team building exercise" after work (see: go have a beer and beech about work) once in a while. Well, some things got back to management. We found out the culprits by selectively mentioning things and seeing what happened. This woman...I heard enough from her so I don't even need to throw out random stuff. I know she'll tell someone.

He really wasn't in the closet if she knew about it. And hell, you probably suspected it anyways about him. It will suck for about a week for him, then everybody is going to want to set him up with one of their gay friends.

Waves at the Lodge.
