Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

This has been the Tuesdayist Tuesday that ever Tuesday'd.

Drove in, hit ridiculous traffic, took me close to an hour for a drive that shouldn't have been more than 20 minutes.

Got to my little parking lot, one car ahead of me, two attendants, nothing happening. I sat there for 7 minutes. Attendant had to go get change so he could give me my $2. And when I say change, I mean change. Goes to his car and gets 8 quarters.

We have this internal social media platform that's been in existence for a while but is very confusing and the user experience sucks. Well, we re-launched our intranet today and this platform is a big part so I tried to make a post in the FIFA FanZone community and include a link and for some reason it didn't work. Argh!!! Why did I even bother???

Also at work, trying to get up to date on the 4th, see that the weather has taken a turn for the worse and now we're looking at a ****ing HURRICANE for the 4th, trying to figure out several contingency plans.

Get two emails from employees in one of our close by branch office all upset and ****y that they didn't get the email asking them to volunteer for the 4th. I almost said "Sorry you're so upset but maybe it was because I've been traveling and ridiculously busy that it was just easier to email our home office with the request." JFC. Why do you email me THREE DAYS before to complain???? Idjits.

Red Sox game with Dad. Thought I told him to meet me at 5pm, like every other time. He thought it was 5:30. Finally gets to my office, we drive over to Fenway but because we're late, no more spots on the street so we have to park in the Warren Towers (BU dorm) garage. Thankfully Dad remembers his Alumni card, I forgot mine. Gets us 50% off parking. But Warren Towers garage is undergoing massive renovations and there was poor signage and many foreigners directing traffic that were unclear and rude.

Go to dinner, that was actually OK. Except that I asked about the Team USA soccer game as it was 0-0 last I had checked. Oops. Now it's 1-0.

The Red Sox are awful. They lose to the Cubs.

Get home, my internet isn't working. I had to unplug and reset my modem.

Tomorrow has to be better, right????

Oh! And also when I got home I realized I left my coffee pot on since 8 this morning. I'm lucky it didn't catch fire. I can't believe this one doesn't automatically shut off.

I've done that with my (now dead) coffee pot. I'd guess given the contact points of the heater, nothing there to catch fire (metal vs glass, not plastic). But, it probably could ruin your coffee pot. Not likely, but could.

And how bitter is that coffee, if there was any left in the pot?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Since when were you married? Vegas style?

And it depends on the type of flooring and how much of it soaked into the carpet, if it was on a carpet, and various other factors that might play into the carpet, and how often this happens.
Me, married, that's a hilarious thought.

Scarlet wins for the Tuesdayist Tuesday. Makes my Tuesday seem pretty good.

Now I just need to fall asleep. I dislike 10 pm softball games. It was fun though, we won, I got a big hit and a double play (grounder to me at 1st, I tagged the bag and got the throw to 2nd/shortstop).

Good night Lodge.

Morning.

Travel day. I don't think Scarlet is headed to ATL so my flight should be baby free.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Heard on the radio on my way into work this morning that the 1% of the country that has cared about soccer can now forget about it for the next however many years again. Thank heavens. What a downright dreadful sport.

I'm looking forward to shooting some guns this weekend. Some trap shooting should be a good time, and I need to get my new deer scope sighted in. Bringing the 9mm with for ****s and giggles as well.

Jr hit 18 and 19 of 25 Monday night. He'll letter next season if he keeps this up. As soon as I'm up and around we'll take his gun to a smith and have the comb height adjusted and maybe add a pad for his cheek. He gets a bruise on his cheek each time he shoots now since he has to snug in so tight to get the right sight line.

If I were to seriously start shooting, I'd need those kinds of adjustments too. I just don't do it enough to make it worth it. Then, if I were to seriously start shooting, I'd probably go buy a good over/under. Soon-to-be wife probably wouldn't appreciate me spending 3 grand on a shotgun though...

Yeah, I don't know if he will stick with it long term so we're not getting any high end guns yet. He may buy an SKB that he test shot at State Championship if he saves enough - it's less than $800. An autoloader he can still use as a field gun, comes in camo. They come with a shim kit for comb height and other adjustments, right out of the box. http://www.skbshotguns.com/Shotguns/IS300.php

I'd really like to get a Citori, like this one: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=424964342
That is a not outrageously priced Browning, its not too fancy, but it should be a good shooter. Ideally, I'd be able to get a Citori with some some ornate engraving, but I don't have that kind of money.

edit: Now here is one that I could be tempted to put in an impulse bid on: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=425035710
I love my Weatherbys.

So, I know I whine a lot about the weather, and earlier in the week I complained somewhat about the forecast. Well, at least now I have a reason. July 4th has been cancelled. Show is moving to tomorrow the 3rd (when they were going to do the dress rehearsal. Excellent. Gonna be a fun and furious 24 hours......wish me luck.
