Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

One of the small bright spots in a situation like this happened this morning. My aunt got a call from one of her best friends this morning, Peggy, for those who have met her. Her friend's young son received a much needed kidney yesterday, and it just so happened that it was Derek's. He was a donor, and he was able to help this kid. He also donated his eyes, skin and several other internal organs, so he lives on.

Also, he had already accumulated about 100k in cattle without debt, by the age of 21. My dad said he didn't know what he's going to do with them. I suggested selling them and using the proceeds to provide a scholarship fund in his memorial, to provide a scholarship to a senior from his high school going into an agricultural field. Both my aunt and her ex-husband loved the idea, so hopefully it happens.

It's a little dusty in here...

That does sound like a great idea, hopefully they can make it happen.

Maybe you guys shouldn't have built on a flood plain....;)

It hasn't flooded, yet. And I'm moving in the next couple of years, so I won't remain on this alleged "flood plain," because I'm smart like that. So you see, you feeble attempt at turnabout fell flat. I'd rain on your parade more, but I don't think you have enough sandbags.

bbdl: that's pretty awesome, given the situation.

Sounds like rain is more detrimental to your situation than mine. No flooding here...:)

Good Morning, Lodge!

What a great doom and gloom day here in Minnesota! New person starts today, which means I have to get all my regular stuff done by 10am so I can start training them in on our operating system. Every time, I am the one who gets to train the new person.

Morning Lodge.

I wouldn't mind if it quit raining now for a while. I've had quite enough of it for now.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

bb_dl, sorry to hear about your cousin. Nice to hear he was an organ donor, and like the idea of a scholarship.

When I was in Canada the hotel was full of crazy hockey teams. In NC it's crazy kid dance/cheerleading competition girls. Dance/cheer moms are insane.

Maybe next year's B1G tourney you can deal with both! CCHA tourney at the Joe was always the same weekend as a cheer competition at Cobo (convention center in Detroit next to Joe Louis Arena). It's fun to walk through Cobo with my hockey jersey on while silently judging the parents that put more make up on their 8 year old daughter than I've ever worn in my life.
