Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Good Morning Lodge.

Back to work. :(

So Jr played hockey for the first time in months (other than pond hockey) yesterday. He's signed up for a spring league and in supposedly the "Varsity" league. He was really nervous before the game due to the "Varsity" tag. If these guys are all varsity, they are scrubs on weak teams. Jr, who did not make JV, fit right in.

Any name for this league? Where is it played?

This will probably be the only day this year that my favorite baseball team doesn't have a losing record! Hooray! Its a good day!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

All the expectations for BC, but I'm expecting them to have a lot of trouble with Union. BC had too much trouble with Notre Dame for me to think they can beat Union, and if they do win it'll be a very close game that goes to an exciting end. I'm expecting MN to hand UND their arses (even with the end-of-season Whioux SCSU split that series only a few weeks gone now), and then Union will eek out its first national championship.

Not all of it, but I saw enough of the BC/Lowell game to see that Lowell and Union play a similar, defensive game - only Union plays it better. Seriously, I think Union's the real deal and BC has the misfortune of being a good team that loses to one most people have already discounted. Perhaps I'm wrong, but Union simply impresses me.

I agree with both of these posts. North Dakota has its work cut out for them, to say the least. Minnesota is scary.

The team that impressed me the most was Union. They have fantastic team speed and are deeper than BC. If they continue to get good goaltending, I think they're the champion. In my bracket, I picked every game but the QU/PC game correctly; I have Union over Minnesota in the title game.

Welcome back, baseball!

Good afternoon, Lodge.

Today, I go in for testing for a Youth Specialist job with Muskegon County. The job would be supervising juvenile delinquents or something like that. And if I get hired, it would only be 24 hours a week, but the pay is MUCH better than working in retail.

It is "Showcase." Played at a number of rinks around the Metro. Jr played it a few times way back as mite/squirt. One time he had Bellows and Wait, of Edina varsity, on his team when all were mites. It is a very erratic league with teams all over the map in ability. The game before the one he played wound up 9-0 and the winning team appeared to be made up of STA varsity/jv players. Nobody is checking birth certificates or anything so you can have ringers if you want, or be all scrubs and get smoked.

It gets him on the ice and he gets to play against some varsity players.

Union is going to be a very tough team to beat. Their systems are just so seamless and fluid, great team speed and deeper than BC. They're really impressive to watch, as an unbiased hockey fan.

I did Showcase as a sophomore.. it was okay, but I thought the 4 on 4 league in SSP set up by Steffen Training was much better for my development. Good for Jr. to get on the ice again, though.

Afternoon Lodge. Ghost town here, as many took Opening Day off to get hammered and hop on the Tigers bandwagon. Some twatwaffle left the heat on full blast, and it's sweltering in here, even though I've turned all of the thermostats in my area down (clearly they are just for show).

New word. LOVE it and it's not banned on here.

:D

Nah, just dredged up from a few years back. I believe the retired 'diva invented it.

New to me I meant.

Love it. Now to use it in a sentence...

JDUBBS is being a complete ****ing twatwaffle in the UND/Minny thread and arguing about AAU championships.

Good afternoon Lodge.

My friends are dorks and I love it. Our typical trivia e-mail to see who will attend tonight and how big of a table we'll need has included trivia themed lyrics for "take me out to the ballgame" and "talkin' baseball" and a trivia version of "casey at the bat".

In other news, it feels like Spring here and it's baseball season. Go O's!

You know, a nice rack can really makeup for some other would-be flaws in a coworker.

That's awesome - plus you could always pick up a part-time job to fill the other 16 hours and make even more money.

And the test was interesting. It was video-based, asking what the best response was in a particular situation and asking how you would best approach working with certain types of kids. There was also a reading test, asking you to fill in the best word choice.

Over the next couple days, they'll be testing more people, and when that's all done, tests will be scored and I'll find out my results via email.
