Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Today is one of those days that I have a bunch of things to do, but for every one of them, I'm currently waiting for a response, or for input from a coworker/customer/etc. before I can move forward. So frustrating.

Mornin' Y'all. Rivalry night on the road for us. Head Coach going for win #100. Should be a fun night!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Albert Lea is a rival? Who knew?

They've always been in the Big 9, and the games always seem to have pretty big meaning for at least one if not both teams. Lots of playoff battles and continuity on both coaching staffs has really helped the rivalry bud. Not to mention the students at each school have grown to really dislike each other. It's a fun game to play in, and with Nystrom still coaching, you know Albert Lea will continue to play with great effort for 51 minutes, regardless of their skill/talent level. He's a heck of a coach. All through youth hockey Albert Lea struggles. Growing up we'd beat them by 8+ often..Roy then takes over and they improve immensely in his system.

Mostly unrelated, since it's football, but still somewhat related and funny as it has Rochester John Marshall in it.

My nephew attended Eastview High School, graduated 11 or 12 years ago, the first year the school made it to the state tourney for football. They were playing the RJM Rockets for their section's sede in the tourney. Eastview was just a machine that year, only lost one game in the regular season (a close one to Eden Prairie) and it was close game, so most attributed the loss to the fact that one of the starting linemen killed himself with a gunshot to the head that week. At any rate, the RJM head coach was quoted in the paper stating something to the effect, "Eastview? Has anybody ever heard of them before? They've had an easy schedule - they've not played anybody in the Big 9 this season. Our entire season is leading up to this game, with competition we've played and how we've played them." Eastview's coach had a copy of that interview taped to the wall next to the locker room's door, and they beat RJM 49-6 in Rochester - even scoring a TD on a muffed punt snap. RJM only scored after Eastview put in their second stringers.

Before the conference re-aligned, Eastview was playing those "nobody" schools in the Lake Conference that included Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eden Prairie (all recent state title winners), and Rosemount was strong that year too with Tom Conboy on the roster (he went on to play D-1 football, and his brothers both played D-1 and pro hockey - Tim, the eldest for SCSU, and Andrew, the youngest, who I only knew as "Ratface," for Sparty).

Just had a data review go extremely well for me and my customer. Much better than I expected! Time to celebrate!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Had a meeting today for a student with all the big whigs of the school there. The parents called the meeting and were unhappy with some things, but the parents heaped praise on me for making a connection with their kid. Pretty awesome feeling. That right there is why I teach. It also helped having my boss and his boss there as well :)

For Christmas my friend made me this glass dry erase board. It was framed and she also included this frame stand. I kept it on my kitchen counter and used it for my shopping list. I wound up using the marker for something and by mistake, used a black sharpie. The marker won't come off and now it's ruined. I feel awful. And mad at myself for being so stupid.

Bad news: 5 people are out at work due to the actual flu (not what most people call "the flu"). Worse news: No one passed that info along to me WHEN I WENT TO THE MAIN BUILDING 3 TIMES THIS WEEK.

I'm sure I'm fine, as the contagious period/sick people weren't there, but STILL. Might want to mention that to me, just in case.

Related: we're dumping some orders off to our Chicago branch, since our limited staff cannot handle normal business volume right now, obviously. Still going to put in a 50+ hour week.

If it's actually glass you could try nail polish remover or goo-gone. We use goo-gone at work to remove sharpie from dust jackets where people block out the price (if the marking isn't removed we can not accept the return)

Hope you're not using TurboTax. MN nixed that today.

I didn't, taxes are done, and in 7-10 days I get my money.

No, H&R Block. What's this about TurboTax?

ETA: Never mind, just found an article. That sucks for the honest people.

I'm just irritated because I try to prep for taxes, and this year I had a little hiccup that's caused me to hit the penalty range for my MN taxes owed.
