That protesting BS would stop in a hurry if people would just learn how to use their bumpers. You don't need to be going that fast, just keep going and don't let those fools out in the middle of the **** interstate set up shop in front of a parked car.

But it would be much better if they used them at about 75mph. Roadkill these *******s.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Against air force in Bridgeport. 2OT, I believe. Next whistle was an extended time after the goal, and then refs go to review and everybody is like ***?!
Yep. Exactly. It sent Vermont to the Frozen 4 in DC. If Air Force would have won that one, we would have had an AHA and a CHA team in the Frozen 4.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

If I recall, play went on for a bit right afterwards, then at the first whistle they reviewed and the review took about 20 minutes before they called it a goal.

Howfy Lodge. Happy Friday. Feeling a little better and back at the office. Let's see how the day goes!

S'upp y'all

Going to venture out today, hit the hockey game that is scheduled for tonight me thinks.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I'll be at Mariucci tonight for the WI game with my niece. She's not really a hockey fan, but I'm pretty sure she understands what a puck is. My brother had to go out of town for the weekend to help a friend. Tomorrow's game should be a much better experience for me regardless of the outcome tonight or tomorrow because I'll be there with my college roommate. Right after the Gopher game we're heading off to play a pickup game in BP. This is perhaps the only advantage to having a 5:00 start time for a game. Plus, it'll be the annual Hockey Day Minnesota!

Where you sitting? I'll be in 15,15,15 right next to the band.

Section 4, row 3, last seats before section 5 (seats are 9-10 or 10-11, I forget). Basically, from your perspective, I'll be just at the right faceoff dot in the Gopher D zone for periods 1 and 3.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

As I said in the series thread, my boy has games both nights of the Minny/UW, so thankfully I won't have to watch the Gophers take all 6 points.

He's fairly frustrated with the season as he's struggling with his role as the 10th forward. This is compounded by the fact that he's better than a couple of the upperclassmen who are on the depth chart ahead of him. He's knows it. I know it. Other parents know it... and tell me it. The coach told me it's the case.

He's learning a lot about mental toughness and accepting a role. To be honest, it's tough on me too coz it's plain as day where he should be. Oh well...

The good news is that he gets shifts at varsity and is the next man up when a "top 9" forward is out and they have him playing JV too so on a given night, he's involved in 5 periods of play (players can only play 5 per day). I keep telling him that his job right now is to be ready coz the opportunity will come.

It's a little frightening watching him play JV coz he's quite a bit faster than some of the kids and he's a big hitter. I'm just watching him trailing a kid and accelerating, getting under the shoulder and in front and...:D

It's always like, "Uh-oh... here it comes..."

All legal hits on guys with the puck. He's no goon, but he's a very physical player. Even in his limited time on varsity, there's very little doubt that he leads the team in hits.

At JV though, it's like a turkey shoot when he gets a burr under his 5'6" 145lb saddle. Always fun to see him take down a guy who looks twice his size. :D

Anyway...

Tonight we play the school that he would have gone to had we not enrolled him where he is. He wants to play against his old youth teammates and unfortunately, he'll likely only see limited time.

I'd like to see him play more too as I coached a number of the kids on the other team growing up and know their parents. Still cordial with all of them (most of them ;)), but wanna beat them.

Had my first follow up this am. Everything looking good and clean, and surgeon said it was a very standard procedure, no surprises.

As for that UVM/Chair Force game, you're correct Scarlet. Play went on for close to 2 minutes after the goal, and the review took 12 minutes. Was really weird being in the stands for that long of a review, felt like forever.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

My boss' boss had a meeting this morning with his new boss to talk about our event plans for 2015, including events around a new sponsorship (which should interest some folks here) that hasn't been announced yet. I've spent the better part of this week lining up vendors and internal departments to move quickly as we were looking at doing something early February even though we didn't get the go-ahead to proceed yet. And we didn't. They want to wait till April. The good news for me is that we now have more time to better plan a kick off for this rather than panicking about throwing together something really fast. The other thing they discussed was my proposed plan for our office visits surrounding the Olympic sponsorship. This would have had me on the road quite a bit starting in April. Now, I'll still be on the road, but it will be later in 2015 and I have totally redo my plan. All that work.....I knew it was going to change.

It was interesting talking to the refs that called that in the bar at the final 5 they year after. It sounded like they didn't know what to think at first and eventually came to the conclusion that it must have gone it.

I saw a similar thing in the 2001 WCHA Final 5, SCSU's D-man (DeWolf, I think) put a shot through the net at the Xcel Center against the Gophers. It's one thing to see a guy do it in a standard rink with worn down nets (local rinks, not college rinks), but to see it at the X during its first year of operations was just amazing.

Wasn't that a Tyler Arnason goal? I vividly remember that game. Crazy to think that was my second Final Five ever, and never missed one at the X.

EDIT: ****, I was 8 years old and I remember that! Seems like forever ago! http://www.uscho.com/recaps/2001/03/16/arnason-goal-on-review-helps-st-cloud-put-away-minnesota/

Same year BU had its crazy comeback to win the NC, correct? Same refs did both games IIRC.

Also, if I remember correctly, the time SCSU put one through the net play went on for almost five minutes before it could be reviewed. I seem to recall MN took a penalty that ended up stopping the clock so they ended up giving up a goal and being a man short for time that had not yet happened. :) Weird game.
