Good Morning Lodge!
Good Morning Lodge!
Heh. hadn't been on in awhile, clicked next page and RFAlp's post had a picture of a blinking banana and something about losing belly fat. Took me a second to realize RFAlph had not posted that and that pictures aren't allowed in here. Then I refreshed after I signed in and RFAlph's banana was gone![]()
Good morning Lodge. I think I may have finally succumbed to whatever is going around. Or not. I woke up around 5am with one of my headaches, but also congested. I don't know if I'm coming down with something or is it just a normal headache. Ugh. I fly to Wisconsin on Thursday- I don't want to be sick this week. Maybe hanging around an ER full of sick people is what did me in. I may not get off the couch today.
And you went to the Gopher game?
Great for your kid! He'll remember that forever.
He had fun but you need to understand that none of the former pros were guys he ever saw play. Aaron and Paul Broten, more known as local college players. Reed Larson and Brian Bellows who've been retired for quite a while. There were others but I didn't hear the names. Jr has played against Bellows on outdoor rinks before and Bellows coached him and against him back in mites.
The squirt team won the consolation title. They're way better then when Jr started with them. Jr, of course, claims full credit. I really do think he helps, he's always teaching vs yelling as the dads do.
Anyway... glad to hear that he's doing a good job at coaching. It's great if he's teaching like you say.
So many coaches don't 9just yell a lot) and most kids I've seen that try to help out don't say anything to the kids, so if he's helping them directly, all the better.
Virtually every time a shift comes off the ice he has something to say to the kids. He is always gathering a forward line or D-pair and telling them specific things about what just happened on the ice. He also fully pays attention to line rotations and evenly distributes ice time and gets line rotations back to normal after a PK without having to sit kids for multiple shifts (as the dad coaches often do). He has designed specific practice drills to address things they are not doing well and it shows in games as some thing that were very weak a few weeks ago are now much improved. I have had multiple parents tell me how much better the boys are doing at some things since Jr started working with them.
