We celebrate Christmas on 12/25. Had this conversation at Sunday School years ago about why our church, the largest of the Eastern Orthodox churches, celebrates 12/25 and not January 6th but for the life of me I can't remember why that is. Something about how we celebrate the Annunciation, which is 3/25 and that's 9 months before 12/25.

The only thing I remember from Sunday School is not wanting to be there. :)

The only thing I remember of Sunday School is listening to the other neighborhood kids gripe about being forced to go while I sat at home and played Nintendo or watched TV, waiting for them to get home so we could get a game together.
 
In lovely Rochester, MN for a hockey tourney. Boy just played in the varsity game and is pulling double duty and playing in the jv game next against the goon squad from Fargo South. :)

Good evening Lodge.

Mil is back on my shiat list. On Xmas day she pulled me aside and said." Blah blah blah we know you are no dummy and we (fil) financially support our son in many ways". Tears are now rolling down her face. "We feel guilty that we haven't done similar things to our daughter and you and the boys". More tears. "g, we want to pay for you guys to go on a vacation to Disney. It's the least we can do. Please price out a trip to Florida and let me know how much it will cost and we will pay for it." Big tears and big sobs and hugs are exchanged. I humbly thank her. The next day I'm pricing out stuff. 7 days. Airfare, hotel, rental car and Disney tix come out to about $4,800.00. I call her today and let her know the trip is going to cost about $4,500 not including ancillary things like food, gas etc. Her response? "Oh............dead air................."that's a little more than I was expecting"...............dead air............."why don't you go ahead and book it and we will give you $500 towards the trip."

By the way........in the past month bil got two new snowmobiles and a UTV and an enclosed trailer to haul everything..........

Take the $500 and donate it to Make-A-Wish or some other charity; and make sure it's in your name & then tell the old lady what you did.

I would like to order a truck load of manure and have it delivered to their door step.

Nobody in the g household knows the scoop. Thank goodness.

I'm surprising the boys with a dog ths spring/summer. I will take the money and put it towards the dog.

Edit. The g family had no prior intentions on going to Disney/taking a vacation prior to mil making the offer. I'm not taking one because mil is throwing $500 at us. ;)

I just wouldn't accept the money.

Got my Christmas present to myself today. I am starting a longer-term redo of my apt, replacing furniture/decor/etc. Starting with the wall hangings and such. This is the second piece I have bought for that, and it's beyond awesome. Canvas print, about 30" x 20", cost a decent amount, especially after framing:

Wait, the SB happened already? Don't pay much attention to the NFL, but I thought the regular season just ended. Did I sleep through January? How'd the Gophers do in the Bowl game?
