Morning, Lodge.

Another weekend where I can sleep in, yet here I am, awake. Blech.
Me too. Awake at 6:55. Wide awake. As in mind ready to start doing stuff and Mr. is still dead to the world.

The good news- I am on vacation!!!!!

You all can come to my house and watch the Little Gopher Fan. She likes to get up early. She's so cute, you almost don't mind. Almost...

Good morning Lodge. Been up myself for a few hours. Still have a bit of a headache. Wanted to make breakfast and get something in my stomach before I took something. Feeling better. Now just waiting for Comcast to show up. Made a 10am-12 noon appointment. We'll see how long it takes them to show up.

11:50am.....nothing. Got an automated call at 9:50am confirming and then nada. In the past I've received a call from the technician saying he's en route or will be late. No such luck this time. Going to call at 12:01. We'll see what happens.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Comcast guy just left. I called at 12:01 and was on hold and as soon as a rep came on the line, the guy knocked on my door. He was already in my building. He immediately said that he was giving me a $20 credit because he knew he was late. My X1 box had been making noise - it was a fan problem. He said he could swap it out but I'd lose stuff on my current dvr. I haven't watched everything yet. There are three shows I could easily watch on OnDemand but I'm saving a couple of things that aren't available so I'm not going to swap it out now. I said as long you can tell me my box isn't going to overheat and burn down my place, I'm good with it for now. I can still do it later.

BUT! While he was here, he reprogrammed my remote so now I don't need to use the TV's remote to turn it on and off and adjust volume AND he set up my Apple TV! I can now sign up for Netflix. So he basically did two things I didn't call about and I got a credit. So that made up for the fact that he showed up 20 minutes after the service window ended.

Netflix is evil. It's an awesome evil, but an evil nonetheless.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

They've gone to a curated collection now tho. So not sure if it will be as awesome as before.

A whatnow?

For streaming, most of what I watch are foreign/indie movies. The blockbusters I usually get on disc.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

OK I am so confused about Netflix. I went to sign up. Three streaming options. For 7.99 it comes on 1 screen but standard def. The hell??? How is it not screened in HD? I have a HD tv and the shows are all done in HD. For 8.99, it's 2 screens and HD. Also, a friend said I would need to pay the 8.99 in order to get it on my tablet (or phone). Soooo, if I download the Netflix app I can't use it unless I pay the 8.99? Why doesn't Netflix have any of these instructions on their site?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

It means they pick a smaller collection of movies to show at any one time. Where as before they put as much out as possible.

Gotcha. Well, considering I have about 120 movies on my disc queue, and another 15 or so on my streaming queue, I guess that doesn't bother me. :)

Scarlet: no idea. I signed up years before they split the disc/streaming services.
