I'll tell you what else doesn't go well. Foreign telemarketers that try to get ****ty with me on the phone. Especially when I'm the only one in the office, and I can really turn it loose then.

What is the etiquette around receiving a thank you gift? The department for whom I did that presentation for lat week (the 6th, 7th, 8th graders) gave me a $100 gift card to a really nice restaurant. I'm so touched! I feel like I should send a thank you card. But it was a thank you. Hmmm.

I don't think there is any requirement to send a thank you for a thank you.

It would not hurt to send a follow-up note saying how happy you were to present to them and thanking them for the very thoughtful gift card.

I agree that one probably doesn't have to, but an acknowledgement of some sort (email maybe) for $100 is probably in order. I would.

People like to know that you appreciate something that they did for you and $100 is a pretty nice something.

I got a $100 gift card to a fancy restaurant from the parents of a youth hockey team that I coached one year as a thank you and I know who spearheaded it and made sure I acknowledged it after we ate there and told him how much we enjoyed it.

I didn't have to and I didn't feel obligated, but I could see that it made him happy.

I just got confirmation that the traffic cop who was hit by Randy Moss is the same traffic cop who handles the parking ramp for the IDS Tower's parking garage now. There is little wonder by me now on how that accident ever took place. She's darting back and forth in front of vehicles all the time and shouting at the top her lungs - to the point that I always know what days she's working and what days she isn't. And she absolutely loves to yell at pedestrians. I think she gets fixated on the pedestrians and it causes her to miss some of the road traffic, which causes her to then yell at the drivers, too. Over the past few months she's calmed down with yelling at the bus drivers, but I think that might simply be because some of them complained about her. All in all, even though the whole mess is funny, it's also a real distraction while I'm trying to work.

In one week we bring our lass to college and two days later the lad follows. Hello empty nest! :)

I read that as the pasties game, and it had me thinking that they're still a bit young for that game.

Ditto.

Day off today, gonna putter around the place, get some errands done. Start looking at FFL stuff, as I am aiding LWB in her draft tomorrow. THAT should be interesting. :D

Depending on what "negative" points are....Stafford, baby. The Lions will be throwing a LOT.

I just really like the Cutler to the Marshall/Jeffery/Bennett trio. Add to it that Forte is an excellent pass-catching back, and I really like the look of the Bears O.
