The Lodge already has one little gopher fan. I worry this world will become overrun with gophers.

Congrats Brent

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Just think of all those noisy toys Brent gave his brother's kids. I imagine payback will be a b1tch :D

Oh, I had an even worse thought there. His brother can give Rube 2.0 the kids hand me down toys. :D

Revenge Is MINE, Sayeth The Lord!!!:D:D

If it's a boy, get him on skates NOW. Otherwise he'll have no chance up there.
And that's only a slight exaggeration. I started playing when I was seven because my parents moved us here from Maryland and didn't understand the hockey culture here. I was WAY behind.

I have the perfect gift. Just saw the little adjustable Bauers from Jr's first years in a box in the basement.

The Rubester! Well done.

Hey, my mom was 37 when I came into the world, and that was back in 77. I know a guy whose mom gave birth to his youngest brother at 43, 21 years after him. That kid not only beat the clock, but beat the goalie in the process, too.

I am 47 and have a friend about 5-6 years older than I am. His dad was a WWI vet. My grandpa was a WWII vet.....

If I have a lousy sidewall on my tire, can I blame ex boyfriend?

There's a bulge on my tire that a coworker noticed yesterday. It was small then. It's bigger now. The ex insisted on ordering tires for me the last time I got tires. So these are from tire rack. I believe the order was placed under his name and I just paid him back. Then I went to the super expensive place in town to have them installed ('cause he's friends with the people and they race cars or something...I don't even know, except that everytime I needed work done on my car he made me go there and it was always expensive, like more than it should have been).

Anyway, I'm searching the normal tire places and none of them carry this particular tire.

Argghhh. Meanwhile I'm paranoid (perhaps rightly so) that bad things will happen if I try to drive on this tire (like pop, flat, accident, who knows).

I blame the ex. It is all his fault. Especially since he is not here to defend himself.

You're older than me, clearly. My paternal grandfather was a WWI vet, received a purple heart in France. Of all things, fighting trech warfare, he was shot in the leg.

All the stupid stuff he did aside - and it sounds like he was looking out more for his buddies than you - for your tires, whatever size they might be, most tire stores will be able to order them to their store for you. I think Discout Tire is MI based, so you should have some locations near you. I've seen in the past where you can order your tires online, have them shipped to whichever location you like. If you need some help buying tires, having the info explained to you so that you know what it is you're actually getting, there are more than enough guys on this site that can help, including me.

I already called discount tire and they said they can order it for me. My concern is that the bulge on the tire looks twice the size it was yesterday, so I worry about driving on it. Work is a 25 mile drive each way, and I have no alternative transportation, so I don't really want to wait for a tire to be ordered. I suppose I could put the spare on, but I'm not sure how long that would last with the condition of the roads around here.

Most likely, your spare is a 50-50 rated tire, which means it should be able to handle 50 miles at 50MPH. I don't know what your roads are like, so that may not be how long it lasts. At the same time, if your tire is bulging that bad, it would be wise to make the change before you do have that blowout. Personally, I'd take off the bulging tire and use the spare in its place. And given that you'd be stretching the spare to its rating limit (they usually last at least a few miles longer than the stated limit), I'd make sure that the spare is mounted to the rear axle.

If it's on the front, get it off there immediately, if not sooner. If that sidewall blows at 60 MPH, and it's on the front, you're not going to like what happens next.

As for the tire itself, could this be a warranty claim?

I get mine from an independent company here in Adrian that's been in business for over 60 years.

Brent, didn't expect you to bring your news to the Lodge so soon! Congrats again!

Rubette had a doc's appt yesterday to check some things out, and then she decided to tell the kids and the ex. We were gonna wait a while, probably a month more or so, but she realized she probably couldn't come up with enough excuses to not do stuff with the kids (like the rides at Valleyfair). So, since she told them, she gave me the green light for the hockey boards. But again, no Facebook. Not yet, anyway (since it's less inclusive than the hockey boards).

And thanks, everyone! Gonna be an interesting time, for sure!

This.

My wife's was like that a couple of weeks ago and I took it to our shop that night and was white knuckling it (a bit) all the way there only going about 35.

A sidewall failing can/will lead to a catastrophic blowout.

Don't drive on it, especially at speed.

THis makes me smile. No matter how much you have been exposed to kids the intensity of having your own (v just babysitting) is so intense.

Lil has prom tomorrow night. Last day of real school/ finals is tomorrow. He is dismissing himself at 10:30 (now he is 18 he can do this without us) and going down the track to run a workout before he comes home to get ready.

Never ended up solving the limo thing. He is taking the coach bus and donating the limo $ we would have spent to the Local Food Pantry. Kind of cool.

Ask him for his share of the mortgage or some room and board money. Then you'll see if he needs you. :D

No your house, your rules speech?
