Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

That's Edina. One of my buddies was playing in a pick-up game a couple years ago and was impressed with the speed of one of the players, turned out to be a she. Jenny Potter, former Olympian, former BADger, former Gopher. Could also run into Tom Chorske or John Madden who both have kids playing youth hockey here.

Hockey is a such a small world, especially when you're in an area that centers on it.

I used to be amazed (20 years ago) when I'd run into Chelios, Suter or Granato at a rink here in Madison. Now some of those guys are coaches and I've either worked with them or coached against them or they coach my kid. I completely take it for granted now coz it just seems normal.

That said, I haven't run into one on an outdoor rink yet. Very cool for your boy!

Not that any of us around here are famous, but I think that's a reason hockey is great. It's such a small fanbase, compared to other major sports, that we all see each other at the same events, and it's more of a community/family feel to it.

Yep. I've run into guys that were on my bar league team in college (89-93) and now have kids of their own and live 2 hours away but their kid is playing in the same rink as mine that day. It's a big circle that keeps coming around.

Former Badgers that I once cheered for are now coaching my kid or I'm coaching against them. Never would have imagined that back in college as I'm watching the 90 Badgers win the title - that one of their boys would come over and play on my backyard rink, that I'd coach a team with one, that a couple would coach my kid through youth and that another would coach him now in HS.

It's neat... for lack of a better word.

So, that's what people who take pics of other people doing stuff are calling it these days. :)
One of the pics today looks like like they couldn't live in Russia any time soon. YIKES!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

Went from having a great experience last night, to wanting to question the rink management tonight. My anger isn't even score related

Good evening Lodge.

The day started out pretty darn cold but by mid day it was nice. Given that is has been considerably colder than usual the last couple months..........it's amazing how good the sun and 15 degrees felt.

Without the wind made it nicer.

You can say that again. Around noon or so I was walking around without a coat and just a hooded sweatshirt, a hat and no gloves.

Edit...I am tired though. I spent nearly 10 hours on the lake. Felt good to be outside.

I did the same, except I wore a henley. I went out to test drive a car today, a Subaru Imprezza. The 2014 is looking like an early front runner right now. It's a fairly small car that still fit a man of my substantial carriage.

Is it bad that I enjoy trolling Old Pio everywhere he goes? Because I do.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

I am also at the *HT. Better effort tonight, but not enough to get the win. I'm sure Hammer is thrilled...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

I'm pleased. This one gives us 20 wins.

*slides the Shirtless one a beer*

JFC. Now the spammers are bumping two-year-old troll threads. This is going to be a shiatshow.

HHT. I didn't see that come back happening at all. Denver had SCSU stuffed in every way imaginable, and then something just broke. :)
