Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Good morning Lodge. First off, I want to thank you all for checking in and the concern. It really means a lot!! I was home safe and totally unaware of what had happened until I got a text from my brother in California asking if my cousin was OK. How random is that??? Between here and Facebook and Twitter, you really get to see the power of social media and the way it can bring a community together. I actually got a phone call from my godson, who I never hear from. A phone call!!! His dad called me, another cousin in Georgia called as well.

Coming in to work this morning I walked by several National Guardsmen and women, patrolling the T station which is two blocks from where the explosions happened. I got outside and walked to the office and saw blocked off streets, police and military patrolling the area. Two of the streets surrounding my building are closed. It's a little creepy.

GE - glad your son's friend is OK. les - hope you hear from your son's coach!! It was so chaotic yesterday that it would not surprise me if he just was able to make it home before shutting down. Plus, cell coverage was shut off for most of the day.

Today is my first day back in the office after being out for the Frozen Four and it's hard to figure out what needs to get done. I'm here this week then off to California for a business trip next week.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Agree with you Scarlet. I got a call from someone in the Virgin Islands checking to see if Lil was OK as they knew he might be down there. I can't imagine how it must feel to go work in that area today. Feeling like I and the ones I love are a whole lot more mortal and that is a scary feeling.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Morning everybody. Sitting out in the barn here waiting for the blacksmith to show up to trim all the horses. The little one is on the list to get her feet done for the first time today.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Saw a report there a suspicious package being investigate at Mall of America. Not sure if it's just extra caution from yesterday or not, but this is getting ridiculous.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Morning, Lodge-O.

I'm also really glad to hear friends and family (and your selves) are all right so far.

I'M NOT STARTING A POLITICAL THING HERE IN THE LODGE. I just have to vent on one thing. Brent, I'm with you, caught between the sad and the rage. I just unfriended an old, close friend on Facebook because she sent out a "yes, this is bad, but think of all the bombings we do to others around the world" kind of thing. Now how hard is it to give, I don't know, A DAY to let people process what's going on before you give a political lecture to us ignoramuses. Is that so much to ask?

Given I have heard of some that rob people that are at funerals for lost loved ones since they know they're out of the house and more vulnerable than ever, I think it is too much to ask. Granted I'm not too enthralled with the angle of argument where it's our fault because we bombed other people, and look more towards chain reactions. I'm sorry to hear it happened, and am happy to read that potentially affected board members are OK. I just know that, if I really wanted to cause a ruckus (disclaimer: I have absolutely NO intentions of doing any of this), I'd use that sort of minor disturbance as a front while using the back door to carry out a real vile plan.

OK, enough of that political crud, who wants a beer?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

I'd like a beer, are you flying out here to buy me one?

I'm going with the girlfriend dress shopping tonight, for about the 4th time. She needs/wants a new one for shirtless guy's wedding on Saturday and we can't find one she likes. Its amazing how in a huge store there are about 8000 butt ugly dresses and 2 that look OK. Glad I can just go buy a nice pair of pants and a button up and look presentable. :p

You should have her find 2 right away or make sure she gets 2 uses out of this one so you dont have to do this all over again in a month.

Reminds me of the busy tone I got on 9/11 when I called a friend who might have been in harm's way. It meant she was safe at home, and I could stop worrying without needing to talk to her. Glad to hear you and yours are safe. Now, about Lil's coach....

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Hmm... I'm all caught up with projects at work. Sort of. Probably just jinxed it by saying it. But in the mean time before it all topples down, how do I celebrate? Other than a visit to the lodge of course.
