Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #162: Love Is In the Air

Last year The Tourney was over my spring break. All throughout middle and high school I haven't missed a game at the X. Tomorrow will be the first time in 6 years. I may sell my Friday night session and am for sure selling Saturday night tickets due to North Dakota playing their last WCHA series in Mankato. (as most of you know, I began rooting for the Sioux at a very young age; favorite color was green, I absolutely loved hockey, and I've been going to Final Fives since 1998 at Target Center. Also have had Maverick season tickets over the same time period. Needless to say, this weekend is interesting.)

My son (he's your age) is bummed he can't come down for the tourney, he has a heavy class day Thursday and didn't want to miss. He must get his maturity from his mom because I would have skipped in a heartbeat! :D This is the first year in a long time the WCHA first round hasn't been the same weekend - and I'm kinda glad the Gophs aren't home this weekend.

I know it. Very odd scheduling year with the Final Five being much later as well. He's a got a better head on his shoulders than I do..I'm missing two classes Thursday. Both of them are involved in heavy group work right now, and I've put it a lot of time though, so I'm getting out alright.

In a perfect world, the Mavs last two series would've been flipped. What can you do, though?

I think he has four on Thursday - SJU has a weird scheduling system - and he decided he couldn't miss that many. If it were two I'd probably be running up to get him tomorrow. :) One of my nephews is home for break so he's going with me Thursday afternoon. Told him I'd bring him to breakfast before the games, which could be a strategic error since the kid's a DII offensive tackle. :)

Gotta feed the big man! Where does he play? Sounds like you guys will have an awesome time. Your boy get to come down for any of the games?

It's always fun! He's at the University of Mary in Bismarck, he's a freshman and redshirted this year. He's about 6'4" and 280.
Probably not. I have to go up next Saturday for a parent meeting (he's studying in London next fall) and he's coming home to for the Saturday night MN game.

Your kid is studying in London next year correct?? Just want to make sure I read that right. along with taking another all important stab at the thread.

Morning Lodge.

ETA: goldy, one of my coworkers has a kid that plays Bantam B2 for Eden Prairie. They're playing the top Edina team tonight in New Prague.

They lost, but played well and kept it close (4-3). I know a couple dads on that team, one is my son's Learning Lab teacher and the BSM girls varsity coach (ask your co-worker about Dave Herbst), the other works for a rep firm I deal with a lot. Our kids lost to the second seed Edina team 4-2. Played hard but too many errors. We play again tonight against a Tonka team we lost to in regular season and beat in a tourney. Double elimination could make this a looooong week.

Morning Lodge.

I received rep to a thread that no longer exists. I don't know what my reaction was or which thread. It might have been the faux PotY poll.
It was the lame PotY poll. Something about being shocked that 'checkbook boy' wrote everything out by hand for PotY.
