Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #159: Lodge's Attitude Toward Christmas/Holidays

WOOT!!! Finally did it. Just made the last payment on the car today. Went down to the bank, handed them the last payment in cash, and had them sign off on the title. :D:D
Couldn't walk into the bank in Texas but mailed my last payment in yesterday. w00t!! And I have a Subaru so maybe that will be it for awhile. (of course Lil has insurance payments that we are helping with but still :D)

Quiet for us too.....so quiet the cut us loose early.
Busiest day for me in months. Saw double what I have been seeing. My MA keeps telling me to just take the co-payments but I continue to be astonished that people will insist on coming in for a 'sinus infection' with nasal congestion that they have had for 3 hours. How many times does someone need to be told that if you don't have a fever and the sx are not longstanding it is NOT a sinus infection  At 25-50$ a pop you would think they would at least take tylenol before insisting on an appt. And no, just because you paid that I will not be giving you the antibiotic anyway, in case... and because it is New Years next week the viral infection is not going to decide to go away if I give you an antibiotic. My favorite line lately- "Do they think this is Burger King- they can walk in and order up what they want?" My MA's response- "yes"

Tep. My ultimate fave is the Tamiflu ads. They tell us NOT to prescribe that except very specific circumstances and then the Pharm co. advertises to ask for it knowing full well they shouldn't.

Just starting 2 weeks worth of laundry with a dryer that only works with the little piton taped down and manually spinning the drum to start. Whee! I always think that I can relax after Christmas and then realize all the other crap I let go and need to get done. I also have to sort thru 1K of track pics, post the other 1500 pics I took and sorted, do the bills, etc, etc.

Getting some snow this afternoon/evening. My brother flies home tomorrow so my folks want to have us all over for dinner. My older brother and family will be driving in most of it. My SIL said they'd be at the house at 3pm. If they don't mind driving in it, then fine. I'm not a fan of it but I have a much shorter commute. I offered to have my brother stay with me tonight as I live closer to the airport and can park my car I. The T garage across the street so I don't have to worry about shoveling out the car but he'd have to be packed and ready to go as soon as dinner is over and when I called this morning he wasn't even awake. There never is a good time for storms, is there.

my doc NEVER writes scripts for me, ever. he tells me tylenol and deal with it. it's to the point where i don't even bother calling him. so that's what i've been going on now since wed night.

Since I have been retired (now two years) I figured that I could just sit back and relax whenever there was a snowstorm here. I don't think that we have more than an inch of snow on any day since. We did of course have a hurricane recently.

Good morning Lodge.

Not sure what the deal was but I tossed and turned all night.

Getting ready to take the boys tubing.

Well, it's noon. Time to go pregame for the GLI. I have zero expectations, other than Western winning the title.

Good Morning Lodge (still morning here).

When Jr's fever spiked over 103 a few weeks back, the on-line diagnosis thingy (Virtuwell) said to take him to a clinic. All nearby urgent cares were closed, ended up at an ER. Bad move. Shoulda kept him home and given him Tylenol or ibuprofen and liquids.

when the kids got high fevers i just keep their forehead covered with a cool rag and add cold water as it warms.

HHT for me!

Been hesitant to say anything about this but can't hold back any longer. My daughter moved to Texas back in July and came home for the holidays. She's been telling us about the "really nice guy" she met a few weeks ago and how she thinks it might lead somewhere. So we look at her and ask if he's a real cowboy.

"No... he's only down there working on the pipeline and in the oil industry... he's actually from Wisconsin"!

W tee F?

"But dad, he's a really nice guy".

From Wisconsin? I don't think so.

"Why all the hate, dad"?

Blame it on USCHO! Wisconsin? :(

To make matters worse, she shows me his Facebook page. Almost everyone of his pics contains a deer!
