Good Morning, Lodge!

I will be spending my day making cookies like no other. Sugar cookies, pumpkin cookies, peanut butter blossoms, and a batch of the almost famous Gram's caramels.
Smells like a challenge. No one can out-cookie me!

Good morning, Lodge!

I don't want to know what the **** anyone is doing with the first age bracket.

Whew. Got lucky with one of my niece's presents: bought the LAST copy of something called Disney Dances for the Wii at the local Target. And bbdl won't like it (and obviously I'm not a fan) but got the new Taylor Swift cd for my other niece. *sigh* the chances of them liking rock music are slim in that household.

I love how Brent tries to play those two items off for gifts for others but we all know (and so does he) that those gifts were to himself. :D

You know how you go to a store around the holidays and there's always that one person holding a list, looking like a doe in headlights? Yeah, that was me today. I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out exactly which game my brother was talking about when he texted me my niece's Christmas list. :o

Hahaha, yeah, that's the only picture I had running through my head. Brent asking some hapless clerk, "Where can I find a copy of Disney Dances for the Wii?"

I laughed for about 10 minutes. You poor man.

It was worse when they were younger, and I had to find age-appropriate toys. JFC, I musta spent an hour trying to figure out what would be a good toy, just roaming between 2-3 aisles. One year I actually DID ask a clerk for ideas/opinions. :o

Xmas with the in laws isn't as painful as years past. The boys got pink and purple unicorn slippers though. You cannot make this shiat up. Reminds me of the movie "A Chirstmas Story" when Ralphie has to wear the bunny suit. :D

This year I struggled mightily on what to get the family... :( The only person I knew what to get was my brother. I have no idea if he reads this board (I know he's on GPL) so I don't want to spoil anything.

My mom was easy last year. I knew she had always wanted a Kitchenaid stand mixer but probably didn't have the cash since she had been laid off. My dad is always a puzzler because he never wants anything. To put it into context, he chooses to live a simple life. Doesn't have a cell phone. Doesn't use an ATM card (although he does use credit cards). Has a small TV.

God ****it... I knew some jack*ss was going to comment on that...

Our family isn't big on gifts. Since I'm the only one with a job in my immediate family (parents are both laid off/retired) and my brother is on his way to med school, I feel like its almost my respectability to do something nice for each of them.

At least I made the minimum of comments. ;)

Our family isn't big on gifts, either; rarely do they get each other big-ticket items.
