This is the news blast we received, issued by WCCO, which is kiddie-corner to the Target store. Target's corporate offices are one block south of the store, across the street from the WCCO location. The Retek building is located between the store and headquarters, on the same block as the store.

11:40 AM MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An office building in downtown Minneapolis was put on lockdown Friday morning as police responded to a call of shots fired.

There was a report of shots fired in the Retek Building, according to Sgt. McCarty with the Minneapolis Police Department.

McCarty says that officers are investigating the report at the building, which is on 10th Street South and Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis.

At this point no victims have been located and police continue to investigate.

Target Communications said they are encouraging employees at the Retek Building to stay inside the building at this time.


USTALERT:Minneapolis Radio Link reports an active shooting incident at or near Target and the UST Minneapolis Campus.

It's sounding like a false alarm, from what I've been hearing/reading. I hope that's the case.

Yeah, we just received an update that sounds like what you're hearing. Somebody must not have had their TPS reports ready for his/her seven bosses today.

Wow, that is not the news I wanted to hear. I hope everyone at Target and in the area is okay!

Long time no see, Lodge. It has been a really up and down and around month for me, with lots of work and other responsibilities keeping me off the board. Today may be the strangest best/worst: found out I got a job that finally allows me to work in history and get health insurance and benefits, which is huge for me - I have been thinking really seriously about a job and/or career change. That was right after finding out that my aunt probably has lung cancer and will need surgery. Thoughts and prayers much appreciated.

Anyway, hi again. :)

Just read on KARE 11 that they haven't found any evidence of a shooting, yet.

Good luck to all the teams tonight except for Tech. :D

Bought a Samuel Adams variety pack. Never had the beer before. First beer was a Latitude 48 IPA. I'd give it 5 out of 10.

I am on vacation until 11/27.
