Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #154: Olympics

Good morning Lodge. Rainy Tuesday. Went out to walk this morning, started to lightly sprinkle. As I started my second lap around the neighborhood it became more steady so I had to cut my walk short. It's very muggy out as well. Right now it's raining pretty hard, glad I made it to the office before that hit.

So, this puppy's almost done. Who's got next?

That's what I thought too, but wasn't what I was told by a VW tech over the phone today. He said I could go in and they could tweak the programming to try making this trailer work, but it would essentially just be a bandaid, and that it was quite possible that a future trailer wouldn't work then, so I would have to do it all over again. I think I finally found the fuse #'s for the trailer module, so I am checking that in the am. VW is incredibly secretive about their stuff, there isn't a fuse diagram in my owners manual, and several other things you need to really look around to get info for.
If you splice into the wires and connect a plug to it, it will work. It's electric basics.

Well, the control module has a lot of safety features built in, as I understand it. Extends the anti theft for the car to the trailer (doors locked and trailer connected? Don't undo the wire harness!), anti sway controls built in (not sure on specifics here, but have seen it mentioned on various forums), light issue warnings relayed to the driver info screen, and who knows how much more is part of it, but it is an impressive unit.

I've made it almost 1300 miles with no brake lights, I should be able to make it the remaining 350.
That sounds like a whole bunch of crap i don't want to use, or pay for and that i most definitely don't need.

Well that went well. I got to the customer site at about 8:00, was back in the hotel by 8:30. 5 minutes after i got there a cooling hose burst and sprayed some nasty "water" all over, including soaking the customer. They're shut back down for now, until they can get it fixed.

Good job putting that nick in the hose.

Whew, just got some work to get going on. My project in Azerbaijan is on hold due to lack of answers from the client and I've been helping out others here and there and looking for work. Finally got the go ahead on another job so I'll be on site tomorrow and working on it Thursday too.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #154: Olympics

I wonder if Cat hard pipes theirs? How about Onan?
Its not on an engine, or any piece of equipment an engine manufacturer would build. Its part of the gasifier cooling system, the system that is producing the fuel for us to run. Also, we own Onan. ;)

For those Minneapolis bar crowd people, Bootleggers is officially closed. The city was putting pressure on them to clean up their act for underage drinking violations. So the ownership decided to close its doors instead.

It turns out that the same group of owners also owned Envy, which has also been closed. Why is that? Well, that's the bar the kept having all the shootings just outside its doors after bar close.

Just shows that the owners didn't really care about the business, they just were in it for fun and maybe some money. It's not exactly difficult to clean up underage drinking.
