Unless you happen to live in a state/County where emissions testing is required to renew your license plates. The State of Illinois will reject a car from testing if the Check Engine light is on in my area. :(
Put a piece of electrical tape over it.

Morning.

Fall travel planning is starting to ramp up. Headed to Roanoke for labor day, then 2 trips to Atlanta in November. Not sure yet if we are going to SF for Christmas this year.

Minor medical question... I hurt my pinky playing kickball about 10 days ago... It still won't flex the whole way... It didn't hurt when I did it but it was rather bruised up later. I thought maybe I bent it back?

So, any thoughts as to what I should do? I suppose it's possible that it's broken in some way but it didn't hurt after I did it.

If you're concerned, see a doctor.

Seems like a simple litmus test.

Rub some dirt on it. It's bruised, it would have hurt enough that you wouldn't ask if you should go to the doctor if it has been broke for 10 days. Even if it is broken, what's a doctor going to do? If you're nervous about it being broken splint it up with a popsicle stick and tape. You'll be fine.

Speaking of medical crap, my jaw has been very sore for the last 5 days. It is right in the joint where the bottom jaw pivots, there is a muscle there that I can feel is very, very sore. I'm in the process of sucking it up, but it is annoying. Whiskey seems to fix it though, but it wears off after a few hours.

Sounds like TMJ. Aggravatingly common among us clarinetists. It's a mess because your health insurance will tell you it's a dental problem, but your dental will tell you it's a normal medical problem.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #154: Olympics

The boys won the 'ship with JR still warming the bench. Tough to play against 8 though.

Worst officiating I've seen in quite a while. Couldn't even figure out to work a penalty situation where one of their guys got a minor and our guy got a double minor. I mean it is simple, you put all the times up on the board, start 4-4 and when their guy gets out the PP starts. They tried to start the PP first. OK, what happens when the penalties expire? Morans. Our most skilled player got a semi-break late, would have probably been a 2 on 1, but he got his stick slashed out of his hand, no call. Then in OT he had another chance, got behind his man and got his feet swept out, again, no call.

If you do start the PP first, your team would have to have a second player serving the second minor who would come out after the first penalty expired, the other players would have to remain in the box until their was a stoppage in play after their respective penalties had expired.

I believe that for coincidental penalties, USA hockey rules don't have teams play a man down (they do in the NHL) so the ref did have it correct, even if they missed a bunch of calls against Edina (maybe you should increase the size of your bribes to the officials in the future so that doesn't happen again).

So, Friday on my way to pick up my folks and my nieces to head to the Cape for the weekend, two warning lights came on on my dashboard. One was VSC TRAC, the other looked like a little engine with the word CHECK under it. Car seemed to be running fine, made it to their house. Told my folks we needed to take their car. Got home today and looked at the manual. Not sure what is causing either but the recommendation is to take the car to the dealer. Crap.

My light has been on for a year for a simple valve problem that affects absolutely nothing.

I've noticed as I search for new Dental insurance that TMJ is listed as "not covered" specifically in the benefits section.

Do you have your wisdoms out? Seems strange but that pain radiates everywhere like a b*.

If it is this, what can be done? Is it surgical, or do I just continue to suck it up and take it like a man?

Yep. Heck, I've had a few clients come in looking for help with that. One of them has gone on a rant about how the doctors have pretty much ignored her complaints about it, and just have given her a prescription to painkillers, which help, but don't have any lasting effects and tension in that area can lead to headaches a lot.

I know people that deal with it, I know another who has had it lead to her jaw frequently dislocating, and she's having surgery to correct it. One option though, is PT, which some of our patients have had a lot of success with.

Valve problems do affect stuff...There are only so many ways a valve can be off, it opens to late, or it opens too early. Either one of those can have an impact on the efficiency of combustion, meaning gas mileage.

I don't let lights tell me what to do to my truck. If something is wrong I can figure it out by myself, in the performance of the vehicle. My light comes on when it throws a code for "Turbocharger Needs Cleaning". Have you ever heard such BS? They want people to go in and buy a $70 aerosol can of ionized water, to spray in the turbo when the engine is idling. I know this is true because, well my company makes the engine, turbo, and the $70 can of water. When it comes on, I just drive aggresively, blow the carbon through to the DPF and the light turns off after 3 starts.
