Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #153: Condiments, anyone?

Good Morning Lodge.

Dammit, I forgot my phone at home.:o

I forgot my glasses. Thank God I have a back up pair.

Fire alarm went off at 2:25am. Turns out the rain leaked through the roof and seeped into the alarm on the top floor of the building. Yeah, that's what I needed, already having gone to bed late due to watching the Olympics. And then today was the yearly fire alarm testing. I had to wait till they came by my place to test my fire alarms. They were late, so I just now got in to the office. Plus I woke up with a headache. When I went to the doctor last month for my physical, she prescribed Imitrex. Anyone here take that? It hasn't really worked...well, it kinda has. I'm waiting to see if the headache will come back later. If it does, can I take something else for it? I can't take another Imitrex till tomorrow.

Good morning Lodge.

Regarding little g..............Since day one we as parents have involved as many experts as possible to assist us in making decisions for what is best for little g. Experts in the medical field or experts within the school district. We have used a team approach and believe that two heads are better than one. We are sensible and have never been demanding parents. We (and up to this point everyone else) only want what's best for little g. In fact, everyone involved with our family have been nothing but amazing and strong advocates for little g.

Mrs. g and I are getting ready for a meeting later this morning with various people within the school district regarding little g. Potential conflict on the horizon. Back in May we were transitioned to a new team that will be working with little g. Since that time we have started to experience some issues.

FYI there is specific language/documentation (IEP) regarding a game plan that the district and the g family has put together on how we deal with and support little g.

These issues at first were tolerable but noted nonetheless. Things have now taken a turn and are now bordering on a level of unacceptable. We have used the common sense approach and have used the proper channels to deal with this and it has not worked. Not sure why but I don't think these people know what they are about to deal with. The gloves are off and there will be a line drawn at this meeting and if need be the hammer will come crashing down today.

End of rant.

Remember, he's your kid. If something's not right or doesn't sit well with you, let them know immediately. While not anything like little g, my oldest had a very bad speech impediment as a child and we took the local school system to task because they basically weren't equipped to handle it. I had a speech therapist tell me that I shouldn't expect my 3 yr old daughter to say her name because it was difficult for her. Right... if I had known about Hammer's shovel back then... It also helps if you document everything. Of course, you probably know this already.

As for ranting, I say do it if it makes you feel good.

This sounds a little too familiar as we've been dealing with similar issues. The worst dealings we have had by far have been with the school district. It got so bad we actually pulled our son out in the middle of the year and sent him to a private thearapy option. Don't know if that's an option in your specific situation but if possible, it's something to consider. We realized quickly that you had to be demanding, especially with the schools, to even have a prayer of getting what you think is required or deserved. One stupid example is for IEP meetings, the principal required they be at 8:00 am with both of us and could not bring our other kids. This was fine in the beginning before other kids came along and I worked close but things changed quickly. We stood our ground and eventually did win the fight but it took a really REALLY long time. We had the same type of showdown meeting. We also brought a representative from PACER to the meeting to help advocate for us. Needless to say that was quite effective.

For what it's worth, my advice is to keep fighting the good fight and do not accept anything less that top quality. Don't let them push you around. We made that mistake for at least a full year before we finally started standing up to them. Sometimes it get's better and there are quiet periods where everything falls in to place, but don't let your guard down. Be strong and you can win. Best of luck!

Bell lap of the conference... Interview w *REDACTED*... Mostly as a lark. Want to tour the ballpark and I still haven't done a Mexican restaurant.

Edit: only statisticians can suck the excitement out of sports... I was better off going to the Bayesian nonparametrics talk. On the other hand they confirmed my suspicions that dwayne Roloson is awesome.

Without reading, is a perfect score 10-$1 bills?

I think buying a Playstation 3 was the worst purchase I've made in a while. The thing is a piece of ****. It needs to have internet to work right, you have to sign into bull**** to even use the thing, errors pop up all the time, it always says it needs to be updated and it usually doesn't work right, have to go to the website to fill crap out to use it. I hate it. I wish I'd just have bought a BlueRay player instead of this POS.

Most blu-ray players require an internet connection to play the latest discs, too. It's not just the PS3.

I'm gonna guess your phone carrier is limiting your bandwidth speed. Yes, you have unlimited, but I dunno if it says how fast it HAS to be.
