Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

Hey, a farm auction might be sort of entertaining.
I like farm auctions that have a bunch of old stuff, you get to see cool stuff like you see in American Pickers. There are usually some pretty awesome antiques and other things like that at them, not just farm equipment. But my mom and gf want to go to a few estate auctions. My mom goes to them regularly, and the gf seemed interested.

If you have no money, auctions are stupid.
If you go to the right auctions, it doesn't matter if you only have a little money....no money is a bit of a problem. :p
The last one I was at I bought a few lots for a few bucks each, and got some interesting stuff, not worth a whole bunch, but just cool to have. Also got the 1928 Springfield .20 gauge for $25.

No, I don't think they've had time. They did spend about 2 hours looking at rocks one night last week, and they went fishing for several hours.
Rock DOc is around?

Auctions would be more tolerable if the annoying auctioneers were mutes.

Speaking of people who would be better as mutes....Joe Buck is doing the All-Star game. Oh goody.
THis

If you have little $ auction is the way to go. When we were little we lived near Wickham Market. Got some really cool stuff for a few shillings. Now it is worth many $$$

That's the kind of thing where I could bankrupt myself pretty easily :o

Nice on the 20 gauge! Is it smokeless or black powder load?

The free wireless at this hotel sucks. Actually, it doesn't really work at all. I can't get it to work on my laptop and am currently waiting for a call from the Guest Tech guy. Had to shut the wireless access off on my phone and use the 3G. Boo.

Its smokeless. It takes standard .20 gauge shells, but I've never shot it. The forearm is missing a piece, so I want to get that fixed before I shoot it, I just haven't gotten around to bringing it to a gunsmith.

I actually really enjoy going to auctions, even if I don't buy anything. I like to see the wide variety of stuff you can find. If you, or anyone else in the area, wants to go to one, I'd be up for it. We'd just have to find a good one to go to.

edit: also, mmmmmm Lime-A-Rita....

I'd be down, sure.

I thought you might be, since you're into the history stuff. I'll see if I can find anything interesting in the next few weeks.

I won't necessarily have a lot of (or any?) weekends free until September, fyi. Not that you shouldn't go, but just letting you know.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #152: Next to get married?

I wouldn't mind, either. Sometimes you can find some good Americana/kitsch at those things.

And sounds like Scarlet and I having equally crappy Tuesdays.

Were there screaming babies on your forklift?

Her screaming babies are my inept co-workers. Well, some of them are inept, anyway. We should have been out on time tonight. Nope. 90 minutes of OT. Amongst other things.

I'm glad my coworkers aren't inept, just generally awkward.

She's getting a dual degree in geology and geological engineering...

I went up Pikes Peak today after work, the drive up the hill is 19 miles of awesomeness. Ill post pictures to fb once my phone recharges, i took quite a few. I also proudly passed the brake check going down the hill. Stopped with all the failure cars to take a picture, it stunk.
