Seems unlikely that I'll have to go to Azerbaijan. It takes about 6 months to get a visa and we should be largely done with our work by then. The two principals started the process a while ago so they'll be the ones to go, if anyone. No good local engineer to talk to though. Sounds like there is not much in the way of code enforcement so just follow the International Codes and go with it. The local builders will grease the wheels on the ground. Things get built fast there. The Turks do the building.

CC to Gmann..... check the genuinely nice planet thread.... That is all.

It's Friday for me! Leaving around 6am for beautiful Englishtown, NJ for a weekend of NHRA drag racing at the Supernationals. Gonna sniff me some methanol and nitro while going deaf and baking in the sun (though the forecast is for clouds and maybe some rain). Then I'm home through Wednesday of next week so I can do a minor remodel project in our spare room. No matter what happens, I'll be out of work for almost a week!

Sounds like fun. NHRA is something everyone should experience at least once.

I have really good friend whose father is well known in the NHRA world. I have been to quite a few races when NHRA is in MN and it is a blast. Hung out with John Force and his family on occasion.

Just made another payment on my car here tonight, almost down to the last thousand dollars on it til I own it all outright!!! :D

Then it probably means throwing more money at my student loans to get them all paid off. :p

Proper TK's next Friday night if you want; solves the suit thing and gets you guys primed for your Redneck Fest in that hick town on Saturday...

What a fun night. Got two tickets to see the Boston Pops tonight. Floor seats. Steve Martin was performing with them with a bluegrass band. Got there early, was with my mom, walked around the building to the back to check out something for work and wound up walking by the stage door just as Steve Martin pulled up. That was cool. His performance was awesome, great music and he was hysterical. After intermission, John Williams, former conductor and composer of some of the best movie scores ever, came out. Did this performance with Senator Alan Simpson, then did a tribute to George Lucas and Stephen Speilberg and played the music to Jaws, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and ET. Complete with film clips. Then they wheeled out a cake because it was John Williams' 80th birthday, and Steve Martin came back out. Just an all around great night.

Yay Target & Olive Garden. I love Minnesota.

That's not Minnesota. That's any suburb anywhere, or some mid-size stand alone towns for that matter. Hell, you just described places you could go in my hometown, but I'd smack you up and send you somewhere better than freaking Olive Garden for dinner.

To be fair, it's hard to find an olive garden around here... And target is a pain in the arse to get to...

But, yes, welcome to civilization... Between the applebees and the dairy queen

Might be heading to Goodhue on Friday night. Friday night they have Stearns County and Lost Highway playing....Then on Saturday morning is the Road Rally, which I'm hoping to participate in again, just need a team. Saturday night is Rocket Club opening for Craig Morgan, so there is no way in hell I'm missing that.

edit: MNS, we'll have to figure out what our plans are tomorrow and Brent, you can tag along if you want, I think we'd have fun in the Road Rally

It was slight sarcasm, and a slight example of how sheltered I feel in Calumet.

Remember, Houghton was in hysterical mania when Applebee's finally came to town. They might have thrown a parade, I dunno if that's true, though.

She's probably happy to see cop cars with more than one siren.

No, I'm not kidding.

Suomi's tops the list for breakfast. The Library for a normal meal.
Pilgrim River is better than The Library, Quincy's is on par with it, I've never been to Michigan House, but I've heard enough that I'd guess it is better than the Library also.
